We’re in the thick of it now, sweet sister. We’ve been adding scriptures to our albums and meditating on them long enough to know that this is a habit worth keeping. I do hope you are still enjoying both the work and the fruit of this spiritual discipline. But even if you’ve missed more days than you’ve done well, I do hope you will keep plugging away. God will bless you richly as you endeavor to meditate on and memorize His Word.
Recently I’ve been convicted to heed God’s call to holiness. So I’ve been pondering what that should look like in my life…that “set apartness.” I don’t want to try to manufacture a uniqueness or otherness that doesn’t reflect the holiness of God. I want to live a life of obedience that plainly and beautifully marks me as His child.
For that reason, I’ve selected to meditate on and put to memory 1 Peter 1:14-16.
It’s a high calling, for sure. One I cannot attain in the flesh, only through the empowering and work of the Holy Spirit. But I definitely long to be a light in the darkness and to bring my God glory. I know there is no other way to do that than to live a life that reflects His character…even in the mire and stickiness of this world.
I look forward to reading your selected scriptures, too. Thank you so much for sharing them every first and third Sunday (or shortly thereafter). Only heaven will tell the amazing impact this little exercise is having on all of us and each of us. Be sure to share your scriptures with other people, too, as you have opportunity. God’s Word never returns void. So each time you tell someone about a verse you have been chewing on, you give them the opportunity for a powerful encounter with the Living God.
