I know many of my readers want to achieve those admirable golden ration proportions, but don’t care to tuck in their tops. I hear ya! Sometimes I don’t care to tuck either. That’s why I had been thinking for quite a while about trying out the beautifully made shirts at UNTUCKit. So I was thrilled when they reached out recently and offered me the opportunity to try a few of their holiday inspired shirts. Get ready to UNTUCKit for the holiday party season! Oh, and all three shirts that I’m showing are marked down for their early Black Friday savings. Score!

Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

In 2010, founder Chris Riccobono’s unsatisfied quest for a shirt that looked great untucked led him to create the Original Untucked Shirt. Just five years later the new company launched their first brick-and-mortar store in SoHo, and since then they’ve opened 80-plus stores in North America. It turned out that Chris wasn’t the only one looking for a shirt that looked sharp and polished, even if it was left untucked.

The brand now continues to sell their Original Untucked Shirt with the:

  • Perfect untucked length
  • Fits for every shape and size
  • Contoured hemline
  • Reinforced collars
  • Signature sail

Remember how I’m always talking about proportions here at Dressed for My Day? UNTUCKit gets those golden ration proportions. And they can help you achieve them without tucking in your shirt. Yes, they’ve broadened their line to carry women’s clothing and other items besides button-up shirts. But every garment is created for a polished look with a relaxed style.

UNTUCKit for the Holiday Party Season

UNTUCKit invited me to choose a few tops from their women’s holiday styles. So I selected three tops that I think are perfect for the holiday party season. And they actually look best left untucked. (Do I hear an “amen?”)

UNTUCKit for the Holiday Party Season
black wide leg jeans with sequin Harlow shirt (c/o) in charcoal

For this first party-ready look I’m wearing my black wide leg jeans with sequin Harlow Shirt (c/o) in charcoal. This 95% polyester, 5% elastane button-up shirt features a spread collar and a full complement of sequins, front and back. It has a beautiful drape and did not lose any sequins in the wearing of this dazzling shirt.

I love how this simply-cut sequin Harlow Shirt works with my full length wide leg jeans, but I can also see it with black pants, a grey skirt or even worn open over a dress. It’s just lovely. The shirt fits true to size according to their size guide. I am wearing a 10 for a very comfortable fit. I left the bottom button unbuttoned intentionally, but upon seeing these photos I’m rethinking that. It makes it look like the shirt doesn’t fit and I busted a button. Ha! But it’s actually nicely roomy.

Next up I am wearing the matte gold jersey Scarlett Shirt in gold shimmer. James and I agree that the color just didn’t photograph well on this sunny day. The photos on the website, obviously taken in a studio with soft lighting, are much better renditions of the color of this dazzling, slightly fitted V-neck shirt.

Again, this button-front shirt has a lovely, soft drape. And I like the feminine detailing of the covered buttons, the seams under the bust and the soft gathers in the back.

Scarlett Shirt

I paired the Scarlett Shirt with my classic black Southampton trousers from Talbots and my black booties (c/o) from Ally. By the way, Ally has started their Black Friday sale with up to 20% off sitewide on in-stock shoes and boots. These booties are included!

Scarlett Shirt (TTS) // black trousers (TTS) // black booties (c/o) (use their size guides for best fit)

But perhaps my favorite shirt of the three is the cotton blend lace Holly Shirt. I’ve worn this black top over rich burgundy corduroy pants with those same black booties.

I was a little hesitant about this lace blouse because I’ve tried on similar shirts that have no stretch and feel scratchy and uncomfortable. But I get the feeling that comfort combined with good style is priority for UNTUCKit.

Holly Shirt

The Holly Shirt is actually very comfortable. It’s soft on the skin, has room in the sleeves for movement and features a silky lining in the bodice. I think there are so many possibilities for how to wear this shirt during the holidays and beyond.

So my verdict? If the three shirts I tried from UNTUCKit are indicative of their style, fit and comfort, this is a brand worth exploring more. Every shirt fit me beautifully true to size, they’re comfortable and they’re oh so easy to style.

Of course, you’ll find great shirts for your guy at UNTUCKit, too. I’m definitely going to get my husband a shirt or two from this brand for Christmas. If you’d like to explore those options, start HERE.

Blessed for My Day

I came across Proverbs 13:4 yesterday and it intrigued me. I found it interesting that the proverb doesn’t say, “the pocketbook of the lazy one craves and gets nothing” or “the bank account of the diligent is made prosperous.” Instead it asserts that a person’s soul either is unsatisfied or prosperous based on the person’s degree of industry. If you work for it, you soul prospers. If you are lazy, your soul craves but is left without. Huh.

I know from elsewhere in the Bible, that the only thing that really satisfies the hungry soul is a thriving, growing, well-nurtured relationship with the Lord. So when we combine that truth with Proverbs 13:4, we can understand this proverb to imply that growing in our relationship with God takes diligence, work, effort. Yes, we it’s true: we don’t have to work at our salvation. Jesus paid it all. But if we want to experience the abundance of a relationship with God, we must apply ourselves. What are you doing to prosper your soul?

The soul of the lazy one craves and gets nothing,
But the soul of the diligent is made prosperous. ~ Proverbs 13:4

  1. I really like the shirts featured so went to the website to investigate further. Unfortunately while this brand is size inclusive for men, it isn’t for women. While I was disappointed they don’t offer extended sizes for women I’m hopeful that one day they will. They have lovely things.

  2. This sparked interest with me because my husband likes an untucked shirt!! But I was totally uncertain about the men’s sizing! All that to say, (and James is
gonna hate this, I believe!!) but it sure would be helpful to see the ones you get him…..modeled by him!!! “Ahh, come on, James…. be a sport!!!)😂

  3. Hi Kay,
Would you please be able to share with us the center back length of the Harlow shirt? It doesn’t say on the site. I love to leave my shirts untucked.

  4. Perhaps these shirts look better in person than in photographs. To me they lack the elegance! Maybe they need a different type of pairing. JMO

  5. As a petite it’s hard to find something short enough to leave untucked but I love the look. Do you know if they make petite sizes? The length on your pieces would be too long on me.

  6. Thanks for sharing the UNTUCKit tops for women; so pretty and festive! My husband loves the UNTUCKit shirts he owns, and actually hinted that he would like some more for Christmas! I haven’t tried the women’s clothing yet, but did see some of the dresses on their website that sparked my interest! Blessings to you and your family during this Thanksgiving season!

  7. Wow! These are very pretty blouses for the season! I have never seen any women’s clothing in our local Untuck. You look so pretty in yours. Thanks for a great post!

  8. I really, really wish I could tuck in a shirt with a belt and feel good about it like I did for most of my pre-menopausal life, but without a cardigan or jacket for “cover” so the side profile doesn’t show my tummy sticking out, it’s not happening. So, I appreciate your bringing this brand to our attention – I thought they only made shirts for men.

  9. The shirts look good on you. I would need a petite version. I love tops I don’t need to tuck in but they’re hard to find for petites.
