Today is officially the first day of summer and it’s blazing hot here. What about where you are? I think it’s a great day to dive into the pool for a refreshing swim. Or maybe you prefer to float in a lake, wade into the ocean or kayak down the river. However you enjoy the water during the summer, I’ve got great swimsuits and accessories for the active woman…and they’re all from Lands’ End.

When my children were little, I was in water several times each week of the summer, if not daily. And having a suit that stood up to water-play, water-skiing and even lap swimming was important. Then, as my kids outgrew the need for me to play with them in the water, my swimsuit wearing became more about lying in the sun or maybe walking a beach.

But these days I’ve sworn off soaking up the sun’s rays. And if I’m in the water, I’m back to being active. I enjoy swimming laps or treading water for as long as I can. And, because we live near a river, we enjoy kayaking a little, too. Later in the summer I’ll visit friends and family members with houses on a lake, so I’ll doing a little paddle-boarding and swimming there, too. Bottom line? I’m back to wanting suits that look stylish, but are also comfortable and highly functional.

I’ve been so pleased with each of the swimsuits I got from Lands’ End recently. Some of the swimsuits and accessories I’m sharing today were gifted by Lands’ End as part of our collaboration, and I’ve designated those with “c/o” after them. But the others I purchased myself. I want to be ready for all the water activities the summer brings!

The Chlorine Resistant Shirred V-neck Tankini Swimsuit Top and Chlorine Resistant Swim Skirt Swim Bottoms I’m wearing above are both so very comfortable. I never have to tug at them or adjust the straps. Everything just stays put and feels great. I sized up to a 12 (as I generally do in swimwear) in the Swim Skirt Swim Bottoms and I’m wearing my TTS Medium in the Tankini Swimsuit Top. I love that Lands’ End is a size inclusive brand, and these pieces are available in regular, petite, long and plus sizes.

For kayaking and paddle-boarding I got the Women’s 5″ Quick Dry Swim Shorts with Panty (c/o). They’re so comfortable. I did size up to a 12, but a 10 probably would have worked nicely. (Note: Because I often need to create collaboration posts quickly, I sometimes size up when placing my order just to be on the safe side. I don’t have time to exchange items if something is too small. And, especially with swimwear, I’d rather err on the side of things being a little roomy.) The emerald green Quick Dry Swim Shorts pair nicely with my Tankini Swimsuit Top in Deep Sea Navy Tile Geos, but it works well with the White/Deep Sea Stripe Rash Guard UPF 50 Swim Tee (c/o) below, too.

A rash guard is a type of swim tee that provides sun protection as well as some insulation from equipment you may be using in the water, such as paddle boards, kayaks, surfboards, etc. You do need to wear a swimsuit top under a rash guard, and mine fits nicely under this silky soft Women’s Crew Neck Long Sleeve Rash Guard UPF 50 Swim Tee. It’s also available in plus sizes and in a variety of prints and solid colors. And Lands’ End also has a short sleeved rash guard.

By the way, those Quick Dry Swim Shorts with Panty are also available in a sassy 3″ short and a more conservative 9″ swim short. I love the variety in fits and sizes offered at Lands’ End. They truly have something for everyone. Speaking of everyone, don’t forget to shop their men’s and children’s sections for other members of your family, too.

Tankini

But as practical and functional as Lands’ End suits are, they’re also stylish and flattering. I love the way the prism pink Women’s Texture Halter Tankini Swimsuit Top (c/o) and coordinating Women’s Chlorine Resistant Texture Mini Swim Skirt Swim Bottoms (c/o) looks so feminine and youthful, but still modest and functional.

I’m wearing a medium in the top, but again I sized up to a 12 in the bottoms just in case. Turns out a 10 probably would have been just perfect, so I’d say these run true to size. These pieces are available in a few other pretty colors, too.

Of course, shopping for swimsuits is quite a personal venture. My needs in a suit may not be the same as yours. I tend to carry my weight in my hips, rear and thighs, whereas I’m quite small-chested. So I looked for suits to conceal my “problem areas” and needed little to no support in the bra. But Lands’ End is known for carrying a wide range of swimsuits to fit all body types. They even have a page on their website called Swim Solutions, where you’ll find options “suitable” for long torsos, tummies, more bra support, and more.

And don’t forget the accessories you’ll need to complete your ensemble for a truly enjoyable day on the water. My Women’s Facesaver Sun Hat gets the job done and looks stylish, and my Medium Natural 5 Pocket Open Top Canvas Tote Bag features several pockets inside that holds sunglasses, my reading tablet and phone, sunscreen and more. And a key ring attachment makes sure I can find my car keys easily at the end of the day.

Lands’ End has more than swimsuits for active women. They have so many options for swim suit coverups, too. I chose the Linen Roll Sleeve Oversized Relaxed Tunic Top (c/o) above and the black Women’s Cotton Open Knit Maxi Swim Cover-up Skirt below. They look great worn together, too.

But you’ll also find dresses, pants, kimonos and sarongs to choose from. And if you’re looking for a suit that’s a little more sexy than functional for a romantic getaway, this Crochet Stitch Surplice High Leg One Piece Swimsuit is just the ticket. It’s almost sold out in the black and egret white, but there are more sizes available in the similar tankini top that you could pair with these Smoothing Control High Waisted Bikini Bottoms for the same look.

How will you wear your swimsuits this summer? Do you have a beach vacation planned? Or maybe you’ll be swimming laps in your own pool or at a swim club? Will you ski or paddle board or kayak or canoe? As active or as inactive as you choose to be in your suit, I think you’ll find some great options at Lands’ End. I’ve been shopping their suits for my entire family for over 30 years, and we’ve always had such great results.

Blessed for My Day

When push comes to shove, which do you lean into for security: the stability of bank account or the character of your God? I’ll admit, having a bank account in the black and knowing that we’re prepared for a rainy day…or season…is definitely a source of security for me. But after having faced more than our share of financial setbacks – due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control – I know that the money in our bank account is a fickle friend at best, a “high wall in our imagination” at worst.

On the other hand, it is our God who has provided for my family every single day and in every imaginable way. Oh, the stories I could tell you! But more than just providing for us financially, God has proven to be faithful, strong, a trustworthy defender and an intimate friend. Choose today who or what you will run to in your time of trouble. And invest in that source of strength in preparation for the “rainy days” to come.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous runs into it and is safe.
A rich person’s wealth is his strong city,
And like a high wall in his own imagination. ~ Proverbs 18:10-11

  1. I am so excited to see swimming shorts for women! It will be wonderful when this is common! I am 67 years old and nobody needs to see the tops of my thighs!

  2. I love Land’s End swimsuits! I have been wearing them for many years. I love the variety of styles and sizes, and the durability of the Land’s End swimsuits. I am a fan of their swimsuit coverups, as well.
Thanks for the post on their swimsuits today! Blessings to you and your family!

  3. Love Lands End. Have shopped there for 30 years. Their quality is superb. Love their swimsuits. Today I have on a LE v-neck t-shirt and their chino shorts.❤️Please do more collaborations with them!

  4. Such cute suits Kay….and love the pink one🩷 their colors are so bright!! You will have so much fun at the pool with your granddaughter when she is a little older!

    Blessings,

  5. I just started following your blog and subscribing to your emails, and as I was reading about you, I was pleasantly surprised to see that you also live in Cincinnati! What a coincidence. I have lived here all of my life (I’m 61). Just thought I’d say hello.

    1. I’ve been wearing Lands End swim suits for 30 plus years. My favorite exercise is swimming, so the chlorine resistant suits have been wonderful. I was recently gifted several tankini swim tops from my sister after her mastectomy and have purchased a couple swim shorts to coordinate. I also wear their long sleeved rash guard t-shirts while lazing in an inner tube. Thank you for the encouragement through your BFMD posts. They do remind my to focus on God, and not the world.

  6. I wear no other than Lands End suits! They are the best and so affordable! I have two and a rash guard on their way for a Nov. cruise to the Bahamas

  7. Lands End is the only place I could find a stylish and modest suit made for women with mastectomies, and will accommodate prosthetics. There may be a few of your followers with my same issues but it’s never mentioned in fashion blogs.

  8. I have been a satisfied customer of Lands’ End swim wear for years. This spring I purchased the chlorine Resistant One Piece Fauxkini and love it! My previous Lands’End suit was still in good shape, but faded from sun and chlorine.

  9. Loved your Land’s End selections. I have been buying their swimsuits and rash guards for years. They are the best quality and value. I would love to see some of their other clothing in a blog post in the future. Thank you for all your hard work!

  10. I have the highest regard for Lands End. Three-quarters of my closet contains clothing from there. I haven’t ventured into swimwear yet, but there are many lovely styles to choose from!

  11. I think the swimsuits that you chose were immodest. They have low v-necks and the tankini has the open hoop at the bust.

  12. I bought 3 pairs of the 5″ swim shorts and 2 rash guards during the last big sale. I LOVE the shorts! I washed them yesterday after being in the pool all day previously, and I air dried per laundry instructions. They dried in one hour! My usual swimsuit size is 12 and that’s what I ordered in the shorts. Perfect fit. Very comfortable to swim in too. The rash guards also perform well and dried overnight. I’ve been wearing swim skirt bottoms and these shorts feel less matronly. They also don’t cling to me like the skirts do.

  13. All my swimsuits are from Lands End- they are the best! The selection of tops and bottoms plus coordinating cover ups are really nice. Thank you Kay for sharing some new options. It’s always helpful to see the suits on a real person!
