Saving Time & Money with Walmart+ this Week

July 12, 2023

This is a special but very busy week for my husband and me. And as Monday fast approached, we realized we were nowhere near ready for our kids’ visit, my speaking engagement on Thursday, the work assignments we had or just the normal things on our schedule. So we purchased a Walmart+ membership (for 50% off the annual membership fee*) and put it to use right away. Whew! I’m pleased to report we’re sitting pretty now, and it’s largely because we’ve saved time and money with Walmart+ this week.

This week, just through July 13th, Walmart is offering 50% off the annual price of their Walmart+ membership for new members. We paid just $49* for the first year of our annual membership, which is regularly $98 per year. (*For the first year of an annual membership. Not available to InHome members or current, paid annual members or members with a current plan through a third party offer other than those offers through YouTube, GamePass & Panera. Limited time offer.)

James and I were eager to take advantage of the savings we could get through the Walmart+ membership on a regular basis:

  • free home delivery from store ($35 order minimum, restrictions apply)
  • free shipping with no minimum needed (excludes most Marketplace items, location & freight surcharges)
  • savings at the pump at over 14,000 gas stations nationwide ($.05 savings in AL & OK only, subject to change)
  • and a Paramount+ subscription (Paramount+ Essential plan only, separate registration required)

But it turns out this was a great week to purchase a Walmart+ membership because it’s Walmart+ Week! Walmart+ members can take advantage of the season’s hottest deals on home, tech and more. I’ll share more on that in a bit, but first let me tell you how Walmart+ helped me save time and money as we prepared for this week.

Our daughter and son-in-law are visiting us this week. And just before they leave on Saturday, our son and daughter-in-law will arrive. On top of that I had some big appointments this week, so time is of the essence all week. And Thursday I’m speaking at a local women’s event, and I still needed to finish preparing my message.

The first order of business was to order groceries. We needed a few things the kids specifically like, but also just a tasty and easy meal for their arrival Monday evening. Neither of us had time to go to the grocery store, so we placed our full order on the Walmart app, easy peasy.

Groceries Delivered

With Walmart+ everything was delivered to our door within the one-hour timeframe we designated at time of purchase. The delivery was free and so convenient. Instead of spending time at the store Sunday, we were able to go to church, eat lunch out and have a restful afternoon before the big week.

Delivery Was Free

Everything in our order arrived cool and fresh. We even got a frozen pie and it was still icy cold when I took it inside from our front porch. And our salmon, watermelon, eggs and other produce were in good shape, too.

Unpacking groceries

But we didn’t just get groceries in our order. I appreciate that we were able to order things like vitamins, a new salad bowl and home organization items in the same order.

We had decided on an easy baked potato bar for Monday’s dinner, so we bought a big bag of jumbo size potatoes and all the fixings. But we also needed a healthy meal for us to have Sunday night. James and I are pretty bad about running out for fast food if we don’t have easy, healthy meals at the ready. And we knew better than to start the week that way. So we ordered fresh salmon, broccoli, watermelon and a baking potato for him and sweet potato for me.

Sunday night meal

This is an easy meal we have frequently because it’s so nutritious and easy to prepare. And the cleanup is minimal, too.

Easy healthy meal

Since we were freed up from grocery shopping and the need to go out for dinner, James and I were able to accomplish other things around the house to prepare for our company.

Guest Bedroom

That guest bedroom is getting a workout this week since both sets of kids will be using it, one couple after the other. And I couldn’t be more thrilled. But I have to confess, my work tends to spill over into the guest bedroom and it had become cluttered with clothes and shoes and hangers and shopping bags. Ha! so I ordered these simple clear under-bed storage organizers for the items I needed to quickly put away. These are things we plan to sell eventual on an online resale shop, but for now they’re tucked away so our guests can enjoy their stay.

Watching Paramount+

And because we were able to finish our preparations in a timely manner, we set up our new Paramount+ account that was included in our Walmart+ membership. We began picking out shows to watch. Fun!

Walmart+ members got first opportunity to shop the Walmart+ Week deals, but they’re open to everyone now. So it’s a good time to take advantage of those best-of-season offers. But I also encourage you to check out the benefits you’ll get with a Walmart+ membership since the 50% off annual membership fee is still being offered.

I gathered a few of my favorites from the Walmart+ Week deals below. Check them out!

Thanks so much for stopping in. The good news? We’re enjoying time with our kids now and feeling much less stressed. Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day

I love Jeremiah 32:17. Not only does this enthusiastic exclamation resonate with me, but each time I read it I hear the words set to a tune my children used to sing in the car as we listened to it on tape. Cassette tape! Ha! Jeremiah made this proclamation when he was stumped by the ways of the Lord. He was trying to comprehend God’s activity and acknowledged that he couldn’t wrap his mind around it. But he knew that God is God and he was not. And he reminded himself that nothing is too hard for God.

I hope that my children learned this truth as we sang the children’s song with these words from scripture. I’d like to think that they know that God is in control even when their world seems to be out of control. But we all still need to be reminded of this powerful truth in our struggling world. Who could you share this scripture with today? Maybe you could text it to a friend, send it in a note or read to your spouse.

‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. ~ Jeremiah 32:17

  1. Jeremiah 32:17 was a verse in my devos this morning ! It was a special encouraging verse to me when my Husband had surgery in January .
Enjoyed your post today…different but very practical.
Thank you & have a wonderful visit with your family this week!

  2. I just feel the need to caution you a bit. I have shopped Wal-Mart (WM) online using a credit card. Shortly after someone else tried to use my same credit card & purchase for themselves. The same thing happened to my neighbor. I shop at WM still but only in the store. Please be extra careful.
