August 2, 2021

Happy Monday! Oh, and here we go August! Can you believe we’re already into the month of August? While we each savor the last full month of summer 2021, we’re going to turn our focus to preparing for fall here at Dressed for My Day. I have a photo shoot today and I’m so grateful that our temperatures have taken a dip into the 70s this week because I’ll be shooting fall outfits. But before we start our emphasis on preparing for fall tomorrow, let’s review our July 2021 favorites. First I’ll share 10 of my favorites – the products or items I loved, wore and used in July – and then we’ll check out five of your favs. These are the products my Dressed for My Day community purchased most through my links.

Our July 2021 Favorites

By the way, I chose a peach motif for this month’s favorites graphic because peaches have been a favorite, too. I ordered a 25 pound box of peaches from the Peach Truck earlier in the spring to be picked up in July. My huge, tasty peaches from Georgia were such a treat! I made three batches of peach pound cakes (in mini loaf pans) and delivered some to neighbors and froze the rest. Then I froze about 10 quarts of peaches for later.

So consider this a bonus, but the Peach Truck was definitely one of my July Favorites.

But let’s move on to my other favorites.

My July 2021 Favorites

Our July 2021 Favorites
Clockwise to middle, starting top left: L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Eye Shadow // Freshwater Pearl and Conch Necklace Set (sold separately) use code KAYHARMS for 10% off // Coach Turnlock Clasp Satchel // Caslon Shirttail Tank Dress // Caslon Antonella Platform Flip Flops // Spanx Bra-llelujah Racerback Bra // Everlane ReNew Sport Sandals // Everlane Parklet Shirtdress // John James Audubon Framed Canvas Print

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Eye Shadow // I first shared this neutrals eye shadow palette in this beauty post. So I purchased this silky smooth eye shadow in January. But, as things happen, it made its way to the back of my cosmetics drawer with time. Only recently have I pulled it out and started wearing it again. And I have to say it holds up beautifully in hot, sticky weather. I’ve also started adding just a bit of shimmer back into my eye shadow, so I enjoy using this palette for that, too. Check out this post for application tips.

Friday Dress
summer dress // pearl and conch shell necklaces // sandals (I find them true to size) // earrings

When I started putting this post together, I thought that I’d included the summer dress from L.L. Bean, above, in last month’s list, so I wasn’t including it here. But I didn’t include it last month. This sweet summer dress is a definite favorite! It’s no longer available in the print I’m wearing, but they have other pretty iterations.

Freshwater Pearl and Conch Necklace Set (sold separately) use code KAYHARMS for 10% off // But I’ve also enjoyed wearing this dainty necklace set, as seen in the photo above. Of course I also just enjoy supporting Rachel’s business. She’s a young woman and the daughter of one of our Dressed for My Day community. She creates such beautiful, feminine and delicate jewelry.

Tahari and Eliza J Dresses
Tahari Asymmetrical Knot Sheath Dress // Eliza J Flutter Sleeve Belted Crepe Dress // Karl Lagerfeld Royal Pump // Halogen Teardrop Earrings (not in sale, but available) // Coach Turnlock Clasp Satchel

Coach Turnlock Clasp Satchel // I just purchased this luxe bag (shown above) in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (going through August 8), but I’ve already carried it several times. It’s so versatile for year round use. I love the super soft pebbled leather, the variety of colors included in the bag and the ample compartments. For a premium brand handbag, this purse is a great buy in the sale in my opinion.

Caslon Shirttail Tank Dress // You’ve seen this easy-to-wear Shirttail Tank Dress in a couple of my weekly outfits roundups, and you’ll see it again. It’s just so comfortable and sweet, especially for days when I don’t go much of anywhere. But I have worn it out and about, too. Of course, this Shirttail Tank Dress would also make a great beach to dinner dress for vacation.

shirttail tank dress
shirttail tank dress // racerback bra // flip flops // earrings  sold out

Caslon Antonella Platform Flip Flops // And these casual flip flops have become fast favorites, too. In fact, they’ve become the pair of shoes I wear most frequently around the house, second only to my Acorn spa slippers. Ha! These Platform Flip Flops are super comfortable. So comfortable that I’ve been mighty tempted to buy them in nude and black, too. They also come in orange sunset, which would be equally cute with simple dresses like this one.

Just so you can see another way I styled these flip flops, here’s another outfit photo.

Tuesday Outfit (1)
similar linen pants at a good price // flip flops // teardrop earrings // similar ruana and another option

And another…

What I Wore Wednesday (4)
stripe linen blend pants // henley tee // yellow citrine platform flip flops // earrings sold out, but more styles available HERE (use code KAYHARMS for 10% off) // gold tone heart beaded stretch bracelet (2 for $35, 3 for $39)

Bra-llelujah Racerback Bra // Of course you can’t see it in the photo above (with the navy and white shirttail tank dress) , but I’m wearing it! That’s part of the reason I love this Bra-llelujah Racerback Bra so much – it truly stays concealed under dresses like this. But I also chose this Bra-llelujah Racerback Bra as a July favorite because it is amazingly comfortable and soft. I love that it doesn’t have any noticeable hardware and fastens in the front, creating smooth lines underneath lightweight clothing like t-shirts and tanks. I also purchased the full coverage version.

What I Wore Friday (3)
two button blazer // blue twist neck tee // similar jeans from Talbots (my Kut from the Kloth are sold out) // black ReNew sport sandals // earrings // necklace in black drusy // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your order)

Everlane ReNew Sport Sandals // I purchased these Sport Sandals to share in upcoming transitional outfits, but when I tried them on I was sold. They are even so much more comfortable than my Tevas. Unlike the Tevas they have a very soft footbed. And I really like the way they situated the straps. I think they create the most pleasing lines on your foot. You’ll definitely be seeing these in transition outfits, like the one above. They fit true to size.

Here’s another way I styled them…

What I Wore Sunday night
seersucker lantern pants // seersucker linen shirt // black ReNew sport sandals // earrings

My next favorite is also from Everlane. I’m sharing two photos because I want you to see how I’ve styled this dress differently through the month.

What I Wore Monday 2

Everlane Parklet Shirtdress // One of the things you can’t really see in Everlane’s photographs is the high quality of their products. Everything I’ve purchased from them has featured great fabrics or materials, detailed and fine stitching and quality hardware. And their prices are really reasonable for the quality you get.

That’s why this Parklet Shirtdress has been such a pleasure to wear. It’s amazingly soft and it just feels good. I can’t even quite explain it. There’s nothing inside the garment that itches or irritates, the fabric is substantial and has a lovely hand and the fit is perfect. Yes, it’s oversized by design, but it still needs to fit. And this Parklet Shirtdress does indeed fit beautifully true to size.

black shirtdress // sandals (more economical option) // earrings // conch shell necklace (use code KAYHARMS for 10% off your order.) // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off)

Hmm. I think I’ll wear that today!

My final favorite is not a fashion or beauty item, but something I purchased for my home. If you’ve been around here long you know that we recently moved into a new home. We’d been renting (following our move to Cincinnati, Ohio, from Arizona) for the past two years. I had Ethan Allen design a beautiful living room where our fire place is and all of that furniture and artwork is now in place. Yay! I’ll be sharing a post about it soon.

But one thing I contributed to this room on my own is this John James Audubon Framed Canvas Print of the cardinal, which I’ve placed on our mantel. I love how this print, with its big splashes of red and green, help pull this room together.

Living Room 1
John James Audubon Framed Canvas Print

I’ll gladly share more of this room in a future post if you ladies are interested. I’m not a decorator, but I know what I like. And the designer from Ethan Allen helped me put together a room I’m very pleased with. I think I’ve contributed some final touches that make it feel homey and warm, too.

Your July Favorites

Let’s move on to Your July Favorites now.

Your July Dressed for My Day Favorites
Left to right: Cargo Crop Chinos // Modern Ankle Jeans with Ribbon Tape // Frame Le Sylvie Crop Straight Raw Edge Jeans // Mellani Sheet Set //  Coach Turnlock Clasp Satchel

Cargo Crop Chinos // I featured a “reel” about different ways to wear these Cargo Crop Chinos on Instagram, and evidently it resonated with my followers. Because this was a HUGE seller in the Dressed for My Day community. If you purchased some, I hope you’re enjoying them as much as I have. Since so many of you purchased these, I’ll definitely feature them in a transition-to-fall look. They’re so versatile. And they’re significantly marked down right now.

I think the following is my favorite way of styling them so far.

Monday Outfit
cargo crop pants // Henley tee // striped linen shirt (60% off!!!) // Nordgreen Infinity Watch with white leather band (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your order) // demi charm necklace in gold pearl // gold sandals (another option) // similar earrings

That striped linen shirt  is still available in limited sizes, by the way. And it was actually a community favorite, too. But since I shared it last month, I didn’t include it in today’s list.

Ooh wait! Here’s another favorite with those cargo crop pant.

What I Wore Monday
Cropped cargo chinos // sea salt t-shirt (sold out) // similar sandals (40% off) // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off or code KAYHRMSF for a free extra strap) // similar bracelets // starfish earrings // similar crossbody bag (49% off)

Modern Ankle Jeans with Ribbon Tape // I love that so many readers and viewers purchased these Modern Ankle Jeans because it indicates that many of you are trying the straighter jean silhouette. And these are a great jean to test the waters with because they have more of a straight leg and less of a full leg. They fit trim at the top and just slightly fuller in the calf and ankle. And that ribbon tape down the side is placed just right to be very slenderizing.

How I Dressed for Tuesday
modern ankle jeans with ribbon tape in seaglass // button back detail t-shirt in watermelon (another option) (40% off) // sandals (more economical option) // customized necklace (20% off – final sale) // earrings (50% off) // straw handbag sold out (similar options)

Frame Le Sylvie Crop Straight Raw Edge Jeans // I actually meant to include these in MY favorites list, too, but somehow forgot. So I’m so glad they ended up in YOUR list of favorites. In fact, these were HUGE sellers in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and, amazingly, they’re still available in most sizes.

Frame Le Sylvie Crop Straight Raw Edge Jeans // Caslon Ribbed V-Neck Tunic // Eileen Fisher Joss Knit Bootie

These Crop Straight Raw Edge Jeans are another great pair to try if you’re dipping your toe in the new jean trends because they’re also very trim. This is premium denim, so they are a bit pricier. But the discount in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is substantial. If you’ve been considering trying premium denim, this is the pair to splurge on. I’ll be showing you how to style these for fall and beyond in upcoming posts. Of course, the look above is definitely a fall outfit.

I’m wearing my TTS 30, but you might could size down.

Mellani Sheet Set // I shared that I have this Mellani Sheet Set during the Amazon Prime sale and many of you have continued to buy them into July. They are soft, luxurious sheets for a great price. And of course, they come in a lot of solids. I have these and the white ones.

Handbag
Coach Turnlock Clasp Satchel

And of course, I’ve already shared that the Coach Turnlock Clasp Satchel is one of my favorites this month, too. And it didn’t surprise me that my community has purchased this bag, as well, because many of you have commented or emailed that you did so. And you’ve told me how much you love the bag, too.

Thanks so much for dropping in today. I hope you enjoyed this review of our July Favorites. Now it’s on to August! Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day

Do you have a plan for putting into practice what you learn from God’s Word? I’ve discovered that if I don’t put a few checks and balances into place, I fill my head with knowledge of God through the Bible, but neglect to practice what I’ve learned. God’s plan is for me to be transformed into the image of Christ as I read and learn from His Word, not just be puffed up with knowledge.

So I talk candidly with a few people in my life about what I’m learning from Scripture and how I’m allowing it to change my thinking and behavior. I also memorize scriptures and meditate on them regularly, allowing them to change my thinking. Finally, I pray through the scriptures I read, asking God to point out changes I need to make in my life. I commit those to Him, even when it requires humility and hard changes.

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. ~ James 1:22

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. I love your style and taste in everything. I am thrilled to see the link to that print above your fireplace. I think that is so pretty. Would love to see you do more decorating posts on your home as well.

    1. Hi Sandra. Thanks. I don’t have plans to include home decor a lot. But I’ll definitely show more as we get our home pulled together little by little.

  2. Hi Kay, you absolutely DO need to take the weekend off to enjoy and live your life! No need to apologize or feel bad, we all love and support you. Your blog is such a blessing to me and so many others. Thank you for all of your hard work and all that you do to help us keep looking good ❤️ Have a blessed day!

  3. Hi Kay…..

It’s A YES for me to have you do a post on your LR or even your new home! I Love to decorate and if I may say…..I’m pretty good at it?. People tell me, I should’ve been a decorator……my Mom was good as well so I have taken after her.

Your Framed print looks amazing just above your fireplace and The Cardinal is my favorite bird as it was my Moms…….so when ever I see one I think of her.

    Blessings,

    1. Thanks Holly. I’ve always loved cardinals too, and when we discovered it’s the Ohio state bird we fell even more in love with it.

  4. Yes Please share your living room and home pictures! I also love EA and decorating. The print looks so nice over the fireplace. Thank you for sharing your style and home with us All. Love your posts and style!!

  5. Blessed for My Day really resonated with me. Sometimes I will read Scripture and then move on to something else in my day without taking the time to absorb it’s meaning and put it into action in my life. Thanks for this important reminder. Be “ doers of the Word…” Thanks, Kay.

  6. So thankful those sheets made the July favorites list!! I needed to order new sheets today and was so happy to see them highlighted on your blog today!! I ordered 2 sets, so hopefully you get some credit for that order!! So appreciate the BFMD today!! Thanks for all you do for us!

  7. Help! You referenced some “no show” socks at some point, but I can’t find where you did. Please tell me which ones you like.

  8. Wondering if you might do a post styling the modern ankle jeans with ribbon tape in different ways heading into fall? They are SO comfortable and cute!

  9. I wanted to let you know I purchased the black dress from Everlane and I love it!!!!!! I am not as young as you but still love clothes and fashion. Thank you for all you do.

  10. Kay, Yes!! Your Blessing for the Day I so agree ith you!! Thank you for the reminder!! You dress more casually than I do but e are right together hen it comes to the Lord!! I look forard to you Blessings of the Day!! Thank you!!!

  11. I love the scripture and it is a great way to start my day. I love the idea of showing more of your decorated rooms

I would like to see more dresses that end at the middle of the knee. I have a very tall husband and if I wear a midi or long dress it makes me feel shorter than I am.

Maybe do a blog on how big around and
how long sleeves should really be. I noted that some sweaters shown on Nordstrom’s models covered most of their hands. I don’t really like that look and I don’t think u do either so maybe it is a fad and will just go away in a season
And we don’t have to see it.
