It’s time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I am so ready. I love this sale because it provides us the opportunity to add beautiful, current fall styles to our wardrobe at deeply discounted prices…before the season even begins. Throughout the NSale Preview Days, I’m posting my NSale 2022 Best Buys in several of my favorite categories. Today I’m sharing my favorite blazers and jackets in the NSale 2022.

Why Save More and Spend Less Categories?
Not only do we all have different budgets for clothing and accessories, but we also have different priorities in our wardrobes. For instance, I don’t mind spending a little more on good denim because I wear my jeans almost daily. And since I have most of my basics covered, I’m gradually building my collection of blazers and jackets. So I don’t mind investing a little more in those, too.
But if you are working outside the home and need to invest in good work clothes, you may not want to fork out a lot for more casual clothes right now. And if you no longer wear blazers (because you wore them all those years to the office), you may only want to spend the minimum to have one decent blazer in your closet.
That’s why I’ve created Save More and Spend Less categories within each of the clothing and accessory styles I’m featuring from the #NSale. I want you to be able to shop the category that fits your needs and your budget, both wisely and with excitement. So I’ve culled the listings and found the very best recommendations in each of those spending categories. For each clothing and accessory category the price ranges will be different for Save More and Spend Less, depending on the item and the average prices I’m seeing.
The Save More category will give you the most bang for your buck. These are high quality items with significant savings. I predict these are items you can keep in your closet for years, building outfits around them endlessly. These are also statement pieces. They make a big impact in the simplest outfits. They’re unique, standout garments or items.
The Spend Less category is filled with my top picks for the lower budget. There’s no shame in these purchases! I’ve made sure to select only items that I feel like will deliver good quality and fit. Many of these are staples so you can wear them with versatility. And the prices leave you room to make bigger purchases in the areas in which you want to spend more.
Blazers
I think the blazer selection in this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are some of the best I’ve ever seen. We’ve got multiple offerings from some of my favorite premium brands, including Veronica Beard, L’Agence, Reiss and Allsaints. But the more economical Halogen and Top Shop are offering nice selections, too.
The oversized blazers continue to trend, but you don’t have to go that route. In fact, I think most of us older ladies will do well to stick with silhouettes that flatter the figure a little more. That said, if you already own fitted blazers and want to give the boxier fits a try, this is a good year to go for it.
Save More – Blazers
Here are four of my absolute favorite premium blazers in the NSale. I’m familiar with these brands and can tell you that they will fit like a glove. You will feel like a million bucks in these well crafted blazers.
The L’Agence Kenzie Double Breasted Boucle Blazer should fit true to size to slightly large. If you have widish shoulders or are large in the bosom, I’d go with your usual size. Otherwise, you might size down. You can wear this beautiful ivy green jacket with denim, trending brown, ecru, navy and camel. Also by L’Agence, the Chamberlain Checked Peak Lapel Blazer is a great choice for the woman who already has her basic blazers and is looking to add some statement pieces. This blazer will give you that trending schoolgirl effect. I love that one button closure.
After going with my true to size 8 with the Veronica Beard Cooke Dickey Jacket in the brown above, I returned it for a size up 10. It fit great in the body and arms, but I have slightly wide shoulders. So again, if you’re wide in the shoulders or larger in the bosom, size up. Otherwise go with your normal size in this stellar blazer. You can wear the marine blue faux leather Veronica Beard Cooke Dickey Jacket so nicely with denim, but also with this year’s trending brown. I also love the Veronica Beard Theron Houndstooth Blazer, especially if you want it for the office. Because of the different neutrals in this stunning textured blazer it should prove very versatile. Remember the Veronica Beard options also have dickey capabilities. So you can zip those in an out to create very different looks. There are two dickies in this year’s sale, too.
Here are my other Save More picks from the blazers in this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. They start at just over $150 in the sale, but most are over $300. And some will almost double in price on August 1st.
Spend Less – Blazers
But there are so many more options in the spend less category. These are nice jackets at more approachable prices. I especially like the Good American Fitted Scuba Blazer to the far left. That should prove to be a classic silhouette and a lovely fabric. We’ll see. But I have high hopes for that blazer.
Since plaid is still trending, the Vince Camuto Glen Plaid Blazer makes a nice option. The Zella Premier Performance Hoodie Blazer is an interesting and promising choice for the more casual lifestyle. I’m all in on this one. And the green Topshop Plaid Suit Jacket is a fun choice for the woman who wants to add some personality to her wardrobe with a blazer.
Here are some other options, all showing up at well under $150 in the sale.
Completer Jackets
The rest of the jackets I’m including in this post are ones you might wear as completer pieces. Sure, they serve as outerwear, too. But these are outfit makers more than warmth adders. You’ll see bomber jackets, moto jackets and shackets with a few other random styles thrown in.
Save More Jackets
There is just nothing like a high quality leather jacket, and we have plenty of nice choices in this year’s sale. I’ve discovered that when it comes to leather jackets you generally do get what you pay for. That’s not to say you can’t find them for less. But fit and details do matter in this sizable purchase, and you’ll wear it more frequently if you feel comfortable and stylish in it.
I purchased the oxblood Allsaints Dalby Leather Biker Jacket a couple of years ago and have had a blast wearing it. This year they are offering two of these jackets in the NSale, one in the lovely cloud pink shown below and one in a very versatile fogged ecru. This jacket fits like a glove true to size. And the arms are even big enough for me, and I frequently have trouble with the sleeves of leather jackets. Allsaints also has the Caden Leather Biker Jacket in the sale. I’m not as familiar with this black leather jacket, but I imagine the fit is similar. With both of these Allsaints jackets you save $200 off the original price.
If you prefer a more streamlined leather jacket without all the bells and whistles but high in pure class, the Layfayette 148 Griffith Lambskin Leather Jacket is the pinnacle of style. It’s pricey. But this jacket, offered in the nut brown shown above and black, will go up $500 after the sale. I also like the quality usually in Nordstrom’s Treasure & Bond Leather Biker Jacket. This is a nice leather jacket at a significantly lower price than the others I’ve shown above. It has a really nice silhouette.
You may have noticed that all the jackets in the Save More category, save one, were leather. Obviously leather is pricey. I do like the Eileen Fisher Corduroy Jacket above, too. But it is definitely on the pricey side for a corduroy jacket. Keep in mind that brown is really trending right now, so this camel colored jacket could work beautifully in a wardrobe filled with brown.
Spend Less – Jackets
Ain’t no shame in a faux leather jacket. In fact, you may prefer this counterpart to genuine leather or suede. Each year Kut from the Kloth has a faux suede moto jacket in the sale and this year the colors are really nice. The color below is a nice neutral buff, but they also have trending chocolate brown and raisin as well as classic black. I’m trying to pick one of these up this year.
The Blank NYC Faux Leather Moto Jacket above also come in black, and it’s available in plus sizes, but only in the brown. If a moto jacket is not your style, I do have other choices for you in this category. Interested in the shacket trend but don’t want to look like a lumber jack? Ha! This sleek Vince Camuto Faux Leather Shirt Jacket will definitely elevate your style. And I included the Halogen Faux Leather Blazer again accidentally in this category, but it does serve to remind that you don’t have to go the moto route with your leather or faux leather jacket. A blazer like this one is a great option.

Hello Ali, you are absolutely right. I kept looking at the description and reading that it is a leather jacket and wondering why it cost so much less than mine. I hadn’t looked at the fabric content however. I wonder why they call it a leather jacket. Anyhow it’s not leather. However, I think it’s gorgeous and I’m sure that Veronica Beard has made it look very luxurious. They always do a great job with their jackets. I’m still interested in it. I think it’s gorgeous.
I made the same mistake last Spring. I think the description could be more clear. I ordered a cream VB “leather” jacket and was surprised when a “faux” leather jacket arrived. I thought the material looked like something you’d find in a much less expensive brand and returned. Hopefully, the blue will look better.
