Happy Friday! It’s been a hot week here in Cincinnati. What about in your neck of the woods? I managed to capture photos of most of my outfits this week. So let’s see how I really dressed for my day during this hot week in June and July.

How I Really Dressed for My Day

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.

What I Wore to Dinner Friday Evening

Oops. I didn’t get a photograph of what I wore during the day Friday. It very well may have been one of those days when I was in and out of a dozen outfits as I shot content or tried on new arrivals. But that evening James and I went out to dinner at a local pub and I wore my new Omika Pia caftan that had just come in that week.

Omika gifted me this luxurious one-size-fits-all caftan and it is stunning and silky comfortable. But I knew that I don’t have a vacation on the horizon for which to save it. So I just opted to wear it for our casual date night. Did other women in the pub have on jeans and simple shorts? You betcha. But did I mind? Nope. Honestly, I just don’t worry about being over-dressed. I did keep the look simple and summery with my comfortable Naot Dorith sandals and gold jewelry. My Lizzie Fortunato necklace is no longer available, but they have many other beautiful selections here. I felt like this dress definitely called for a special piece of jewelry.

What I We Wore to Church & Lunch Sunday

Saturday was a major house cleaning day, so I didn’t even get out of my workout clothes until late afternoon. And then I just put on lounge clothes. So we’ll skip to Sunday for my next outfit photo. I wore my deep blue cotton cheesecloth twist front dress from Me+Em. At this point I fully intended to wear red, white and/or blue outfits all week leading up to the 4th. But as you’ll see it didn’t quite turn out that way.

This dress runs beautifully true to size and is so comfortable and flattering. It comes in a couple of other colors and is somewhat of a Me+Em signature dress. They have carried it for at least three years now. Truly, I think it’s one of those dresses I’ll be able to wear confidently for years to come because it’s such a classic silhouette.

James let me snap a photo of him in his Sunday best, too. His top and pants were both gifted by retailers I’ve worked with, so I like to show these to you. These are the kinds of simple pieces that can update your man’s look for elevated casual.

James says this short-sleeve textured camp shirt fits true to size; he’s wearing a large. He really enjoys tops that don’t have to be tucked, and this is a nice one that comes in three colors. His Onward Reserve performance pants are pricey, but he wears them frequently and loves the way they feel and hold up. But best of all, James sings the praises of these fairly inexpensive knit slip-on brogues. They feel and wear like a sneaker, but look a little more elevated.

What I Wore Monday

Monday we were out really early shooting photos before the heat arrived. You’ll see this outfit in Monday’s post, but I kept it on for the rest of the day after the photo shoot. I wore it to a hair appointment and a breakfast meeting, then to work from home rest of the day.

This combination is a favorite outfit formula for me this summer. It’s cool and classy, and those scarves are just so on trend. The pants are a CRAZY $30 just through July 5th. Seriously, grab a couple of pairs in different colors. I have the white, sesame and navy, and the red may be calling my name! The top fits so nicely true to size and is available in other colors. It’s a sweet price, too.

Tuesday’s Outfit

Tuesday we shot Wednesday’s YouTube video. Yeah, nothing like working down to the wire. Ha! But indeed we managed to shoot everything that morning and I got it all edited and loaded to YouTube before 5 p.m. So that was a red letter day! And personally I thought this was one of my better videos. Just saying. 😉

After shooting the video I changed back into this super comfortable outfit. I’ve had these linen pants for at least a few years now, and they are some of those I gravitate to for comfort. Plus I just love that walnut color. They pick up the similar brown stripe in that organic cotton shirt beautifully.

Wednesday

Wednesday morning we were out even earlier shooting photos. The temperatures have been getting well into the 90s each day, so early morning shoots have been the way to go. I finished the shoot in this easy-on-the-eyes combination and kept it on rest of the day. You may have seen it in yesterday’s blog post.

However, I did change out that statement necklace for this one as soon as I got home. It’s the one I had intended to show with the outfit, but it got left behind when I packed up the car that morning. It works so much better with this simple white and soft beige outfit.

How I Dressed for My Day Thursday

Thursday was simply a work from home day. For the first time this week I didn’t have to be out the door or in front of the camera early. So I had my team meeting, got in a workout and worked from my home office most of the day. My plan had been to wear somewhat patriotic outfits all week. But as the week went on, I just felt more like other things. Know what I mean?

linen pants (but not in this color this year) // shirt (on sale!) // sandals (use code KAY10 for 10% off at Beek) // pearl necklace (more economical option) // star necklace // earrings // bracelets

So as I put on my yellow linen pants and a breezy white shirt with gold star jewelry and gold slip-on sandals, I decided I was representing the stars on the “star spangled banner” that day. Lol!

Thanks so much for dropping in. I hope you have a blessed and beautiful Independence Day weekend.

Blessed for My Day

I still remember when I “found” the Bible. I’d actually already had one on my nightstand for years, and I’d even read parts of it frequently. But I “found” it when I was 26 years old, a new mom and a new pastor’s wife. I’d experienced my first real season of turmoil when, on the same day, my husband had a grand mal seizure and I gave birth to our firstborn. My world was rocked and I was desperately looking for stability, security and hope for my future.

Interestingly, I came across a different book in my parent’s bathroom when I was visiting one day. The book was Lord, I Want to Know You, by Kay Arthur. After reading just a few pages I asked my mom if I could take it home, where I devoured it in just a few days. That book taught me that getting to know the God of the Bible through careful reading and study of the Bible could not only give me the security I longed for, but it would also satisfy every other soul hunger. Indeed, I’ve been feasting on the Word of God daily ever since. Have you found the book? When? Has it changed your life?

Moreover, Shaphan the scribe told the king saying, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king. When the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes. ~ 2 Kings 22:10-11

xoxo, Kay
