Happy Humpday, gals! In celebration of the week’s half-way mark I’m sharing a sweet floral shift dress that makes me happy, happy, happy. This little number will be playing a prominent role in my wardrobe rotation all spring and summer.

This easy breezy floral shift dress features a split neck with a button and a removable tie sash. I chose to wear the sash, but you could also replace it with a favorite braided or black belt. And I suppose you could wear it without, too. But I really think the cinched waist creates a beautiful silhouette without the dress being form fitting.

I’m still kicking myself for forgetting to take either of my denim jackets to pair with this sweet sleeveless dress. Either my white jean jacket (lower price option) or my traditional Levi’s jacket will work perfectly with this versatile shift dress.

I chose to wear my flat slip-on sandals for a very casual, weekend look. But my bet is I’ll occasionally wear my platform wedge sandals with this dress. And I’ve already worn this simple dress with my new gold sandals. (Perfect for dressing up this look for a date night!)

I carried this crochet straw tote to complete the look. This bag is not your typical huge straw tote. It’s a nice manageable size for keeping the weight in your bag down, but it has plenty of room for the essentials plus more. This straw tote is also available in navy.

While you could certainly add some statement jewelry to this dress, like these white beaded sphere earrings, I chose to keep my jewelry simple and dainty. I paired my moon and star stud earrings in my top holes with my simple gold hoops in the lower holes. Finally, I wore my palm necklace so that it’s featured nicely in the split collar.

This dress is comfortable, pretty and easy to wear. It checks all the boxes for a sweet and simple dress to throw on for lunch out with a friend, running into the mall, taking the grandkids out for ice cream or even going out for pizza with your man. The dress is lined, but still lightweight and extremely comfortable.

Also, when I look at the dresses in Loft’s online catalog I always worry that they will be too short for my 5’8″ frame. And maybe some of them would! But this one works well, even cinched.

Blessed for My Day

Oh, what I wouldn’t do for God to just write directions in the sky or send me a map in the mail! We all long for God to direct our paths, show us the way, reveal the direction that is best for us.

But often God does direct me through small nudges, gentle whispers and loving discipline…and I refuse to budge. While I’m looking for writing in the sky, He is pointing me to His Word, redirecting me through closed doors and reminding me of the truths I already know and am not following.

Maybe it’s time to quit praying for writing in the sky and instead heed the simple but sometimes difficult directions we’ve already been given.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding,
Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check,
Otherwise they will not come near to you. ~ Psalm 32:8-9

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. That is a very pretty dress Kay! It being lined is an added bonus, for sure. And I can envision how changing your accessories will change the overall look, from casual, to fun, to dressy. It’s good you paid attention to your body and took a nap. Since this pseudomonas became active in my sinuses, more days than not I have to take a nap, and my energy level is greatly reduced. I know what a monster this infection is, so I know that I need to pay attention to my body instead of pushing myself too much. I hope you have a fabulous day! In a couple of hours we will hit the backroads for the drive to Atlanta. Thank goodness we don’t have to touch one interstate.

  2. What a great spring and summer dress for Arizona, Kay. The length is perfect for a casual daytime dress with sandals like you’ve styled it. Love your other styling suggestions, too. Very pretty! ?

  3. Darling dress, Kay! I really like the other Loft dress you styled too. Are they both size 8? I’m tempted but put off by the rayon content. Would they shrink in the wash? And would they end up terribly wrinkled and requiring quite a bit of ironing? Thanks!

    1. Oh no, neither of these will need to be ironed at all. They are both silky, filmy fabrics, if that makes sense. I will definitely wash in the machine and then hang to dry. And I expect both will look just as they do now when they dry. I always wash in cold water too. They both feel delightful on. I get you. I’m a very tactile oriented person and feel is important to me. I can highly recommend both.

    2. And the red one is an 8. This blue one is a medium and I actually think it may be a bit big. They say their 8 is a medium but I often wear smalls at Loft. I think they didn’t have one the day I was there.

      1. Thanks so much, Kay! How wonderful that they don’t require ironing!!!! That is a HUGE deal to me! If I decide to go for it, I’ll be sure to shop through your links. : )
