It certainly already feels like summer here. Yesterday afternoon I stepped into our yard to take a little break from work and noticed children a couple of houses down having a backyard birthday complete with an inflatable waterslide…in the middle of the day. And in the evenings I’ve been noticing the gentle, dancing yellow bulbs of lightening bugs. My morning walks are getting warmer, so they may need to be scheduled for earlier yet. Indeed, it feels like summer. So today I’m sharing a fun “celebrate summer outfit” from Spartina449.

I’ve actually styled this cotton Odette scallop tank two ways for you today. But whether I wear this intricately embroidered shirt with the cinched waist with these Maren kick flare pants or the Madewell jeans I’m showing below, it’s quite the stretch for me. But I think it’s fun to step out of our fashion comfort zone occasionally and try new thing. And summer is a fun time to do that.
Summer is a good time to “play around” with your style a bit, experimenting and pushing the parameters a bit. Summer style is, in fact, meant to be more relaxed, more joyful, a bit playful even. It’s also a reminder to not take ourselves so seriously. Not only am I wearing silhouettes that are a little different for me, I’m wearing a little more color than usual, too.
And I’ve added fun jewelry that reminds me of some of my favorite summer fruits and flowers. These Spartina449 pieces are so pretty and substantial. And the prices are surprisingly reasonable. Best news of all? Today full-price items storewide at Spartina449 are Buy One Get One 50% Off.
For this first look, I added a little pep to my step with some darling new Blue Breeze suede slingback kitten heels (c/o) from Ally. Every pair of Ally shoes I have are some of the most comfortable I own. The handcrafted stretchy leather upper is padded with an ergonomically-designed insole, they have proper arch support and the shoes are available in half sizes and 4 different widths. I love the way the Blue Breeze picks up the blue embroidery in my shirt. Remember, it’s time to celebrate summer…even in your style choices.
By the way, my Odette scallop tank fits true to size; I’m wearing a medium. And I heeded the customer comments on the Spartina449 website and sized up in the Maren kick flare pants. The large fits nicely. These pants are constructed in a buttery soft 62% Rayon, 33% Nylon, 5% Spandex fabric and feature a pull-on, wide elasticized waistband. They also have a hidden mesh smoothing panel and front slant pockets, and you can even wash and dry this super comfortable pants. So pretty!
But I also thought it would be fun to see how the feminine Odette scallop tank works with jeans. So I grabbed my favorite Madewell Perfect Vintage wide-leg crop jeans and took them for a spin. I think the light Fitzgerald wash works really nicely with this buttercream top. The jeans run a little roomy but close to TTS; I’m wearing a 30.
This time I completed the outfit with my Tory Burch gold sandals. They’re no longer available, but any metallic sandals would work here. I wanted something decidedly more casual for this look.
I’m certainly not suggesting we completely abandon our curated personal style during the summer. But I do think the warmer months are a good time – and excuse – to break free a little bit. Celebrate summer with a few fun pieces in your wardrobe. Give yourself permission to wear something a little more feminine, a touch more youthful, maybe a tad more vibrant.

In yesterday’s Blessed for My Day I talked a little about how we all crave inspiration. I shared that some people inspire us to achieve our goals, press through our challenges and be a better version of ourselves. I wonder, what people in the Bible inspire you? There are so many that come to mind. I think I might share a few of them over the coming days.
Daniel is one of the people in the Bible who inspires me greatly. Did you know he’s one of the few “main characters” in the Bible about which we don’t really learn anything bad? He seems to have been a man of great conviction, character and faith living in a time when the culture around him was difficult and draining. That inspires me to rise about our current circumstances, too, and live out my faith with boldness and conviction.
But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself. 9 Now God granted Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the commander of the officials. ~ Daniel 1:8-9

Just for fun this summer, I purchased a linen blend vest with a peplum from JCPenney. I bought it in red, which you encouraged us to do. That’s out of my comfort zone. I’ve worn it several times and I’ve always gotten compliments. It’s definitely fun to have fun in the summer!
I find inspiration in the lives of David and Peter. They made some mistakes, but God love them so much. It gives me great hope that my mistakes I looked upon with love and that I’m offered correction and a chance to start again.

BOTH Outfits so so very pretty and summery 🌻🌞💛I agree Summer is a time to wear something pretty and a little bit different to what you would usually wear, I always choose a couple of different things Tops or pretty blouse , sundress or pants/skirt with a different silhouette in Whites/Pinks/Lemons/Baby Blue /Mint Green or Apricot for when I go away on holiday , no one knows me there I can be who I want to be and Ive always trusted my lovely husband to be honest with me which he is , he says most times he actually prefers the ‘Summer Me’ due to the fact of wearing lighter prettier colours and I’m more relaxed and spontaneous he says . Perhaps I should learn from that . I’m really loving your BFMD’s about Inspirational People and the good that they do for us ❤️
