As we approach the holidays I find myself ready to add a little color and sparkle to my outfits. As someone who normally gravitates more to neutrals, I do enjoy wearing a more playful, whimsical and festive look during this time of celebration. What about you? I love Talbots cashmere, and this year I added this luxe cashmere ribbed v-neck pullover sweater to my wardrobe. It’s thick, soft and substantial. And I love this vivid berry color, but it also comes in a toasted coconut.
My jeans are a high waisted relaxed fit in a full length. Remember, I’m 5’8″. I’m wearing the misses size 10 for a true to size (TTS) fit. You’ll also find slimmer fit jeans at Talbots, of course. But I do love the dark wash with this vivid berry sweater.
I’ve topped the outfit with a vivid berry puffer jacket that is warm and cozy. This fun, vibrant jacket also comes in bold blue and highland green. You’ll see me wearing it more below. Here is an outfit I plan to wear to my granddaughter’s first birthday party. Won’t that be fun? My thinking is that if I wear this soft, cozy funnel neck top, she’ll want me to hold her more than anyone else. Hahaha! (Okay, I’ll give everyone else their turns, too!)
My daughter’s theme for our one-year-old’s December birthday is It’s a One-derful Life. So I think my vivid berry top and crystal embellished jeans will feel festive and perfect for the celebration. Talbots has made it so easy to celebrate with color and sparkle this holiday season. They have so many pretty bedazzled jeans and tops, as well as glittery accessories and metallic options. I’m here for it!
I’m keeping this look festive with that silver convertible crossbody above. But I’ll be adding that beautifully structured bag to a lot of my holiday outfits, too. And yes, I’m all for continuing with the silver and sparkle after we’ve packed away the holiday decorations, too.
Unfortunately my vivid berry funnel neck top is sold out in this color, except in a few plus sizes. However, this cozy, soft top does come in other nice colors as well. I saw the tudor blue at the store the other day, and it is beautiful. It runs true to size and has buttons at the back so you can easily slip it over your head.
Next up I created an even more sparkly outfit with those same jeans and a metallic back bow sweater.
I actually purchased this metallic back bow sweater because the fit is so nice and it creates a really flattering silhouette, a little fitted, but still comfortable. I don’t find it itchy at all, but really soft on the skin. And the bow detail in the back is charming. Unfortunately we neglected to get a picture of it that day, but you can see it on the Talbots website and I’ll show it in an upcoming video, too.
And yes, that vivid berry puffer jacket just goes with everything! I’m really going to enjoy having this casual but so colorful option in my wardrobe. The jacket runs true to size (TTS).

As we approach Thanksgiving Day, I want you, my dear reader, to know how grateful I am for you. Yes, I’m thankful that you show up here occasionally or even often. Thank you. But even more than that, I am blow away by the emails and comments I receive here from women who have invited me into your lives, allowing me the humbling opportunity to speak into your life.
And I am so grateful to God that I have the privilege of offering you a little inspiration each day. I realize that style inspiration is not crucial to life. But then again, I know that when I am inspired in one area of my life, that often has ripple effects throughout my life. And then I also get to share the scriptures and life lessons that have meant something to me here, too. So thank you, dear friend, for allowing me this honor. Bless you.

I am thankful that several years ago you mentioned on your “favorite book reading list” the author Lynn Austin. The one book that you liked at that time was “”The Christmas Wish Book.”” I was at a time of life when I was recuperating from surgery and also in the following years was able to read many of Lynn Austin’s books. Recently (2024) she published two new books which are related: “”All My Secrets”” and “”Waiting for Christmas.”” The first one was really good and so I’m soon to read the second one about Christmas.
I am letting you know in case someone would like something new to read by Austin. She is a Christian who writes Historical Fiction from a Christian viewpoint. Also to thank you for giving me an interest in reading again. I do appreciate this as well as other ways you inspire us.

Kay, I am very fortunate to have come across your blog about fours years ago. Your style ideas have made a huge impact in my wardrobe. I had never heard of a rectangle body shape described as “H”. It makes a lot of sense and I can see why certain styles suit me better than others. It is so much easier to get dressed and the thanks goes to you.

Just picked up some sparkle from Talbots – the sequin tank in the green.
