Can you believe it? I actually remembered to take photos of my daily outfits this week. And since I got dressed for my day every day, I’ve got some great spring outfits for women over 50 to share with you. I show a lot of fun and interesting outfits here for a little style inspiration. But today I’m sharing how I really Dressed for My Day this week!

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.
What I Wore at Home Last Friday
Last Friday was just a work from home day, but I had a hankering to wear a pretty dress. So I did! I felt comfortable, but also pretty and smart in this J.McLaughlin Kailyn maxi dress while I edited a video and caught up on other things around the house.

Constructed in J.McLaughlin’s signature Catalina cloth, this maxi dress doesn’t wrinkle and it keeps me cool when it’s hot and sticky outside. It’s breathable and great for packing, too. Unfortunately the maxi dress is almost sold out, but there’s a small here and a large here. I’m wearing a medium. I slipped on my sandals and added a little jewelry to complete my look for the day. Easy peasy.
What I Wore Saturday
Saturday we shot some photos for the blog, so I ironed A LOT of clothes. I finally put on the outfit below and wore it a bit before taking photos and then changing out of it. If you’re a regular here, you’ve probably already seen this outfit in this blog post.

This outfit felt comfortable and smart. I didn’t have the chance to actually wear it out and about yet. But I love the way it comes together with the ivory accessories. You can learn more about this look in the blog post.
My Easter Sunday Dress
Of course Sunday was Easter, and we were blessed with a beautiful spring day. We celebrated the resurrection with our church family and then James and I went to a local restaurant for a special Easter brunch.

I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this 100% cotton Scarlet Sonata Caro dress from Tuckernuck. It felt special without feeling over the top. I accessorized the look with my strappy chain link sandals and minimal jewelry. And I carried my raffia envelop clutch to complete the look.
What I Wore for Appointments Monday
Monday I had scheduled a haircut in the morning and a mani-pedi at the same salon in the afternoon. I think that’s just the best I could do if I wanted to see my regular nail tech and hairdresser. Anyhow that meant I spent the middle of the day at lunch and doing a few returns. Then I just sat and read for a while.

It was only slightly chilly in the morning, so I topped my navy cotton twill ankle pants and striped polo with my trench coat. I actually wore loafers in the morning, but I changed into my flip flops for my nail appointment. I loved how my navy Tory Burch shoulder bag with a cognac strap pulled this look together.
Tuesday’s Work From Home Look
I had been getting a cold, but Tuesday it was in full bloom. Ha! Good thing I simply needed to work from my office most of the day. And I did manage to rest a good bit. But I still got dressed for my day because it helps me to feel so much better.

It was late in the day when we took this photo. In fact, we were heading out to pick up a late dinner from Chick Fil A. So yeah, my linen utility shirtdress is quite wrinkled. Hahaha. But that really just was not even on my radar, the way I was feeling. The dress felt comfortable, smart and perfect for a day of working at home.
How I Dressed to Take it Easy
Wednesday I was determined to take it even easier since I was only feeling worse. You know, when you have a cold you don’t feel just really sick. But you can’t breathe, you’re reaching for tissues all day long and you know you look pretty miserable. I still wanted to be up and about, but I also wanted to feel comfortable and little prettier than I knew I looked.

So I put on these J.McLaughlin Carmel pants and topped them with their Brynn linen shirt. I originally purchased these separates as a possible travel outfit. And I’m sure I’ll still wear the combo for that. But this sure felt comfortable and pretty on this day of working in my office.
Dressing up for Thursday
Well, as I write this post on Thursday afternoon I’m still fighting my cold. But I guess most colds do linger. I’m fine really. I apologize if I sound whiny. I didn’t mean to, but I did want to explain why I was wearing what I was wearing and not going much of anywhere. On Thursday I still wanted to wear something pretty and springy even if I wasn’t going out again.

I had ordered this pretty gingham linen button front dress to share in Wednesday’s YouTube video, which was sponsored by Quince. Wouldn’t you know it, I found it still in the package under a pile of clothes after I finished editing the video. Argh. On this day for working from home I wore it with new espadrille slides that I got in for a collaboration next week. Don’t forget that Talbots is having their Friends & Family event with 30% off sitewide. It ends the 28th, which will be here before you know it.
Speaking of Talbots, I’ve rounded up some of my favorites from their new collection and shared them in a bonus blog post today. Check it out before you head to their Friends & Family event. Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day
I’ve discovered that sometimes my prayers are full of doubt, not because I do not think God is able or good, but because I’m not sure He loves ME enough to do what He has already promised to do. Can you relate? I doubt my own goodness. I doubt that I deserve for God to answer my prayer.
Well, guess what. I’m not good enough. And I don’t deserve for God to work on my behalf. He doesn’t answer our prayers and keep His promises to us based on our goodness or worthiness. He keeps His promises and bless us because HE is good. It’s His character that comes into play; not mine. Let’s not allow our self-doubts to cloud our faith in God. We can trust Him to do what He says He will do…and we can step out with big faith because He is good.
Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I am commanding you today, that the Lord your God will put you high above all the nations of the earth…The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated by you; they will go out against you one way and will flee at your presence seven ways. ~ Deuteronomy 28:1, 7
And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord and said, “If You will indeed hand over to me the sons of Ammon, then whatever comes out the doors of my house to meet me when I return safely from the sons of Ammon, it shall be the Lord’s, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering.” ~ Judges 11:30-31
Kay, lovely outfits for the week’s tasks. We are going to Alaska this summer and thanks to your posts, i am ready! I also have a hiking adventure with one child and a beach trip with the other. thank you for helping me dress for the day! hope you feel better!
Wow! You’ve got a lot going on. Sound like such fun adventures. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed the BFMD. It hit me when I was reading it, that we truly do not deserve His blessings and all He has promised us. He gives it freely. He is so good.
So sorry you are not feeling well and hope you feel better soon. I have been fighting allergies the past 2 to 3 weeks. Hard to be on the move. I can hardly wait to begin wearing sandals, but it has been chilly and rainy, and I need to schedule a pedicure. So anxious for nice weather.
Thank you for showing the linen dress from Quince. It looks great on you! I am in AZ and have had that same dress in my cart for several weeks. I haven’t gone ahead with the purchase yet because I am 5’4″ (size M) and am concerned it will look dowdy on me. What do you think?
It would be so lovely if Quince would offer their dresses in petites! I must wear flats/low heeled shoes, which has kept me from purchasing a maxi dress or three!
Another reader said she has the dress and she’s 5’1″, but she admits it is a maxi dress on her. I do have a friend who has the dress and she’s 5’1″, but I bet she had hers altered. It wouldn’t be hard to hem. I do hope Quince starts offering petites, too. So many people ask for it. But I think it just takes a while for brands to work up to that. From what I understand it is a riskier market.
Thanks, Kay. I will probably click thru your link and give it a try 😉
Good morning Kay, I hope you are over the worst of your cold and feeling better. I’m impressed that you continued to get dressed for your day when it may have been temping to suggle on the couch in pj’s. No one would know you were not feeling your best. Kudos to you.
I knew I recognized the Quince dress. I have it in brown. I don’t know how it’s going to look with my silver hair. For the petite readers I’m 5’2 and it fits me like a long midi. I like it that it doesn’t hit me at my calf but closer to the ankle. It’s a very flattering dress. I hope you feel a lot better soon.
Terri, thanks for adding your experience with the Quince dress for the shorter ones among us!
Kay, I enjoy posts with your outfits of the week. I look forward to this weekly post as it provides much inspiration! Thank you for sharing!
Great week of outfits. I do not dress nearly as nice as you when I’m just spending the day at home. Your Easter dress is beautiful – it was cold here – so I ended up wearing a sweater and jeans to church.
We should start calling you superwoman. Getting dressed each day while feeling under the weather is no easy task. Bless you for keep on keeping on, and looking lovely while doing it.
Hi Kay,
Sorry you’ve been under the weather this week. I really enjoy your posts showing what you wear during the week. Love the dress you wore last Friday!
I love the way you style your outfits!
Coles can be miserable. Hope it’s gone. I especially love your easter outfit.
Hope you are feeling better soon, Kay. Great outfits this week! Your Easter dress and the Quince dress are lovely!
I am sorry about your cold! They are such annoying, miserable things – yes, not the worst, but certainly not fun, either! Hopefully you will feel better quickly. Your every day looks were really nice this week despite the challenges you were facing with not feeling great. The weather where I am is finally warm enough to go without socks and with short sleeves, but my every day look is really just a t-shirt and jeans although I enjoy getting inspiration from you for times when I need something more.
You are an inspiration! I love this blog on how you “really” dressed for your day! Please keep them coming. Even when you’re not feeling well you dress with class! Bravo!
I just received the high waisted stripped jeans from Everlene and l sized down to a 6 as you suggested. They fit perfectly and are so cute!
