Happy Monday! If all has gone as planned, today I am traveling to Vancouver, Canada, where we will embark on our 7-night Alaska cruise this Wednesday. We’ve booked a very special cruise and made arrangements for about 12 extra days of road-tripping through Alaska, in honor of the 60th birthdays we’re both celebrating this year. I’ll share the bulk of my travel capsule wardrobe tomorrow, but today I thought I’d start with the fun stuff! This is the eveningwear I’ve packed for my Alaska cruise in May, and the outfits I plan to create.

In preparation for our May Alaska cruise, I’ve watched tons of YouTube videos and paid special attention to tips from my readers, family and others who have cruised Alaska in the late spring. Some say that few people really dress up in the evenings on Alaska cruises, while others say they do. In the end, I decided that I LOVE any occasion to dress up a little, so I’m putting on the Ritz regardless. Besides, no one can wear denim anywhere on the ship after 6 p.m., and “casual wear is not to be worn in restaurants for dinner.” The suggested dress code is Elegant Casual.

I’m wearing a mini-capsule of elegant, casual separates from Eileen Fisher for five of the seven evenings. These are mostly silk pieces, and they mix and match beautifully. Here are some ideas of how I might wear these mostly black and white garments.
I have heard from many, including my mom, that even inside the ship I should expect to be slightly chilled. So I’m trying to dress in layers even for evenings. My mom suggested I carry a cashmere sweater or two, so I have this pretty tulip colored pullover for evenings. It works beautifully with both pair of pants, of course.
I think an all ivory white look will be beautiful and feel really special. Accessorizing with gold shoes and clutch will set the combination off perfectly. These Goldleaf Bianka Slingbacks are very comfortable shoes, but I’m taking along my Steve Madden Auden Embellished Flats just in case my feet are too weary for heels. I generally need at least a bit of a heel, however, with my metatarsalgia, so we’ll see.
I have decided to take along some pretty jewelry for the evenings, too. Normally I travel with minimal jewelry. But I wanted a few nice pieces to wear with these special outfits. So I’m taking two of the pearl necklaces gifted to me from Gingiberi (use code KAY15 for 15% off) and the lovely Arabella Diamond Chain Necklace and the Maya 14k Gold Hoop Earrings gifted to me from Rachel at Penelope Jewelry (use code KAY20 for 20% off). I’m rounding off my selection with some Shimmer & Shine Huggie Hoop Earrings and a Fresh Pearl Stretch Bracelet Set, both from Talbots.
I’ll be wearing my black oversized cashmere wrap as needed in the evenings.
So those are just some of the ways I can wear the Eileen Fisher mix-and-match capsule wardrobe I’ve put together. We do have free laundry services on the ship, and I hear they deliver beautifully same day as long as you put your order in by 9 a.m. So I feel confident with these pieces.
For the other two nights I’ll be wearing this stunning Veronica Beard Seymour Silk Dress. It is just so lovely and feels great on, too.
Because it does have a plunging neckline and a semi-exposed back, I’ll be wearing my Reusable Adhesive Bra that I wore for both of my kids’ weddings. Of course, it’s actually not a bra, but two reusable breast adhesives. They work really nicely for me since I’m just a B cup anyhow. And for smoothing and shaping, I’ll wear my Spanx Seamless Power Sculpting High-Waisted Mid-Thigh Short. It’s quite the struggle to get on. Ha! But once it’s on, this shaper feels great and gets the job done.
Thanks so much for stopping in. I’m on vacation until June 3rd, so I probably won’t be responding to comments until then. However, I’ll have my assistant keep an eye on them, so don’t hesitate to ask if you have a question. I have posts lined up for the next few weeks, in fact, tomorrow I’m sharing the rest of my cruise and road-trip capsule wardrobe.

Over the years as we see how God provides for us in each and every situation, our faith in Him should grow commensurately. A growth in our faith is for our own benefit; not God’s. God doesn’t need our faith in Him in order to move mountains or conquer giants. He is able regardless of the size of our faith. But the more our trust in Him grows, the more we will step out in that faith.
As we grow in faith, we are more likely to be courageous. More significantly, we’re more prone to obey God. That’s a big deal because God calls His people to a life of obedience and trust. Has your faith been growing? What has God done in your life recently that has helped you to trust Him even more?
And David said to Saul, “May no one’s heart fail on account of him; your servant will go and fight this Philistine!” But Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight him; for you are only a youth, while he has been a warrior since his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant was tending his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and took a sheep from the flock, I went out after it and attacked it, and rescued the sheep from its mouth; and when it rose up against me, I grabbed it by its mane and struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God.” And David said, “The Lord who saved me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear, He will save me from the hand of this Philistine.” So Saul said to David, “Go, and may the Lord be with you.” ~ 1 Samuel 17:32-37
Safe travels and have a wonderful time! That raspberry silk dress is stunning! Hope you post some photos of you wearing it. Also hope you’ll do a post-cruise review to let us know how the clothes you’ve chose work for you and what you’d do differently next time.
Gorgeous outfits! Enjoy your time away. Hopefully when you’re back you’ll share some real-life pictures of you wearing these beautiful outfits, but completely understand if you don’t. My daughter is an influencer so I understand the need to completely get away. Have fun!

I’m so excited for you!! Have a wonderful time! I can’t wait to see you in that silk dress. It is beautiful!!! ❤️
So excited to hear about your trip. We are going on Cunard in August. Planning for my wardrobe. I’ve heard Alaska can be more casual, but we like dressing for dinner.
The dress is a lovely color but because of the plunging neckline it is immodest.
