We’re enjoying warm weather today in sunny Arizona. That has me anticipating spring even more. Indeed, it may already feel like spring where you are, too. Regardless, we know that spring weather is a series of ups and downs, highs and lows, clear days and stormy ones, too. So it’s smart to plan now for the outfits you’ll create in the coming spring months. Today I’m sharing 5 elevated casual spring outfit formulas to build now so that you’re ready to wear them on any given day.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

During the month of February, I shared content to help you plan your spring wardrobe. If you haven’t yet begun, you might want to check out my video, 5 Steps to a Fabulous Spring Wardrobe You Love below.

But in March I’m turning my attention to helping you build that spring wardrobe. If you’ve considered the outfit formulas you’d like to create, listed out the items you’ll need in your closet in order to bring your vision to fruition and completed an inventory of your current spring collection, you’re ready to fill in any gaps with new items. The retailers have been rolling out their spring lines, and most of them look so fun.

I’m excited to shop! Well, in fact, since it’s actually my job to stay a step or two ahead, I’ve already completed most of my spring shopping. And now I’m anxious to wear the pieces I’ve pulled back into my wardrobe from last year as well as my new purchases. While I don’t have all of the exact items I’m sharing in today’s style inspiration boards, I do have similar options in my closet. These are outfit formulas I’ve prepared to wear on repeat and I thought you might enjoy the inspiration.

Spring Outfit Formula 1

My first formula is one I know I’ll wear often. It’s easy and casual, but also a little elevated, thanks to a few keys.

Spring Outfit Formula 1 = ankle jeans or pants + lightweight cashmere or cotton pullover + silk scarf + loafers + trench coat or jacket + jewelry + handbag

The keys to elevating this very casual and comfortable everyday spring outfit are the structured jacket, loafers and a silk scarf. Adding structure always elevates your look. Likewise, you can bring a little more polish to an outfit with textures, too. So a silk scarf will look a bit more polished than a cotton one. But if you prefer a less elevated look you could swap the trench for a less structured jacket, the scarf for a cotton bandana, the loafers for ballet flats and the satchel for a crossbody. And if you’d like to add even more polish than I’ve created here, trade in a pair of dressy ankle pants and pointy toe flats or slingbacks.

For each outfit formula I’m providing a shopping widget like the one above so you can shop the items if you’re interested. Just click on the SHOP NOW button to head straight to the retail website to safely shop and get more details. The items are in a wide range of price points.

Spring Outfit Formula 2

Spring is definitely a time for layers. I think some women revert to their winter clothes when colder days arrive because they’re not prepared with sufficient layering items in spring fabrics and colors. But in this outfit formula I make sure I have three layers to take on and off throughout the day as needed.

Spring Outfit Formula 2 = full length jeans or pants + button-up shirt + belt + pullover sweater + trench jacket or coat + sneakers + jewelry + bag

One key crucial to making this spring look work for a cooler day is to make sure you have full length jeans you can wear with sneakers or other flats. These Talbots jeans work nicely for me at 5’8″ with both mid heel booties and sneakers. You’ll also want to make sure you have lightweight cashmere, linen or cotton sweaters (or a blend of those fabrications) on hand to layer in and out. Ideally, I like to wear this elevated spring outfit formula with the jacket over the shirt and then the pullover sweater draped over my shoulders. When I arrive at my destination, I remove the coat and drape the sweater over my shoulders again. But of course I can also actually wear the sweater over the shirt or by itself, too.

Spring Outfit Formula 3

Lest you think every spring outfit has to include a trench coat (lol!), I’ve created another elevated spring outfit formula with a still-trending barn jacket. I have the L.L.Bean barn jacket in a darker color, but isn’t this light stone color a beautiful option for spring? It comes in petite and plus sizes, too. This one is lined, so it’s definitely preferable for chillier days.

Spring Outfit Formula 3 = jeans or casual pants + striped tee + belt + sneakers + jacket + jewelry + colored bag + bandana (on bag if you’d prefer)

This formula can be elevated or made even more dressy by swapping in different pants or jeans and switching up the footwear. I’ve paired another silk bandana with this look because this year it’s very on trend to wear a silk scarf with a more casual outfit. But again, you could certainly swap in a cotton bandana or put the scarf on the handbag instead of at the neck. Another key to this look is the striped tee. You’ll find so many to choose from in different necklines and sleeve lengths, but striped tees will instantly give you a little more versatility and interest in your closet.

Spring Outfit Formula 4

It’s fun to have a statement jacket in your closet for spring, too. As much as I love having the bases covered with a trench, a denim jacket and a casual barn coat, a statement jacket will add instant interest to your looks.

Spring Outfit Formula 4 = dark wash jeans + silk blouse + statement jacket + belt + heels + jewelry + bag

Have fun with this elevated casual spring outfit formula. Make it your own with your selection of colors and prints. I’ve even mixed prints a little, pairing a floral jacket with animal print slingbacks. Then again, remember that your leopard print and snake print accessories read like neutrals. So don’t be afraid to wear them with a print, especially if the print is toward the top of your outfit. You can change the “elevation” of this look by changing out the shoes or by wearing a cotton top instead of the silk one.

Spring Outfit Formula 5

I love to pull out my white jeans in the spring. No, the former rules about wearing white only after Memorial Day do not apply any longer. You can even wear them in the winter if you’d like. But I personally enjoy saving them for when the weather warms just a bit (and I’m no longer dealing with snow!).

Spring Outfit Formula 5 = white jeans + t-shirt + blazer + loafer + jewelry + bag

For this final elevated casual spring outfit formula I’m sharing the blazer I recently purchased. This Rag & Bone blazer is so on trend for 2026, with a more relaxed fit, a removable tie at the waist and a soft plaid linen fabric. But any blazer you prefer will work here nicely. I’d also like to call out this ribbed, 92% TENCEL™ Modal/8% elastane tee. I have this soft grey one and will definitely also buy it in the navy stripe and the coastal dune stripe. I sized up to a large for a beautiful, not-tight-at-all fit, and it’s going to work so nicely with so many of my outfits for spring and summer. Adding white loafers here is a modern touch, but you could also wear another color. And of course you could swap in sneakers for an even more casual vibe.

I hope today’s elevated casual spring outfit formula boards have provided you with a little inspiration as you begin building your spring wardrobe. Let me know in the comments how you will tweak this outfit formulas to make them your own. Thank you so much for stopping in. Have a blessed and beautiful day.

Blessed for My Day

Dear sister in Christ, do not fear or be dismayed by the hard thing you are facing. Be strong and courageous! How? Remember that the enemy of your soul is indeed a strong force to reckon with. Whether he has beset you with difficulties rooted quite simply in evil or he is trying to derail your faith as you walk through a hard season ordained by God, Satan will undoubtedly pull out all stops to throw you off course. He has come to kill, steal and destroy and he is armed to win.

BUT greater is the One with you than the one who seeks to harm you. Your Lord God will help you to stay standing and He will even fight your battles for you. You can rely on this truth. That means you can now face your day with that courage and strength. Go forth without fear. You’ve got this. Now watch and see what God does on your behalf this very day.

“Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor because of all the horde that is with him; for the one with us is greater than the one with him. With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. ~ 2 Chronicles 32:7-8

  3. Thanks for the Spring outfit ideas, though I prefer to see them on you instead of boards. Shows the fit and how they look on someone. NIce BFMD.
