I think it’s safe to say the holidays are here. Yay! This week families all over the U.S. will start gathering for big meals, games, festive decorating and lots of shopping. And in the coming weeks those celebrations will expand to include more family time as well as girlfriend parties, festive outings and service opportunities. We dress a little differently for all of those, and I’ll have more holiday outfits to come. But today I’m sharing two great Target styles that are perfect for the holidays and beyond.

Colorful Casual Outfit for a Holiday Outing

My first of two Target styles is a very casual but oh so fun outfit that I would wear for a festive holiday outing. Think Mexican fiesta with friends, bonfire and hayride with my neighbors, volunteering at a foodbank or caroling with grandkids.

I selected a pair of very modern and comfortable high rise vintage straight leg jeans from Universal Thread. I am crazy over the full straight legs on these medium to dark wash jeans. They don’t need any distressing or other bells and whistles to look super contemporary and chic. They fit trim in the waist and hips and then full and straight in the legs. These vintage straight leg jeans run true to size.

Let the party begin! This adorable fitted flannel shirt in pink plaid is cozy enough for an outdoor holiday gathering, but polished enough for lunch with friends. And you know the grandkids will light up when they see you in all these festive hues. The Universal Thread fitted flannel shirt in pink plaid fits true to size with sizes available from x-small to xx-large.

I topped this colorful casual look with a zip-up quilted vest. Mine is in wine red, but they have lots of other great colors to choose from. It’s a roomy fit. I’m wearing my usual size medium and might could have sized down. But then again, if you want to wear a bulky sweater underneath, your normal size might serve you best.

I completed the festive holiday outfit with brown suede western booties. The western aesthetic is really trending right now, but these western booties are a classic, too. They have them in a variety of shades. My usual size 9.5 felt a little snug at first, but with wear they felt more comfortable. I definitely wouldn’t recommend them for a wide foot. Mine are the “tan” selection.

Casual Outfit for a Festive Outing

I don’t think a colorful outfit like this one requires a lot of jewelry. So I simply accessorized with classic gold hoops (similar earrings). This is such a fun and festive combination, and you can enjoy wearing it for so many different events and outings this holiday season.

Feminine Dress for a Festive Occasion

For my next holiday Target style I chose a full-skirted feminine dress from Knox Rose. This long sleeve A-line dress is so comfortable you could easily wear it for a family gathering or community event. But it could be dressed up with heels and more jewelry for a concert or other Christmas performance, too.

A-line dress

I’m not really sure why, but the A-line dress does feature a slit at the front, held together only by a hook and eye. It feels secure enough, but you would still expose skin with any movement. So I wore this black cotton blend camisole underneath. I actually like this layered look. Also the dress is not lined, so you’ll probably want to wear at least a half slip underneath.

A-Line Dress

The Knox Rose A-line dress is also available in a black version that is a little different. It comes in sizes x-small to xx-large and fits true to size. They also have the dress in a few women’s plus sizes. I especially love the smocked waistline and the full sleeves. Knox Rose also has a lovely long sleeve embroidered blouse made from the same fabric. It would be great with jeans for a festive look, especially in warmer climates.

Pearl Pendant Necklace

This open neckline definitely calls for an accessory, so I wore this beautiful, delicate pearl and rhinestone pendant necklace. It’s lightweight and the perfect length for so many necklines. I wore the same gold hoops as in the earlier outfit (similar earrings).

Shoe choices abound with this A-line dress, but for a chic, cold weather look I wore these faux suede tall boots. The western inspired boots feature a 3″ block heel and the shaft is wide enough for me, whereas I frequently need a wide calf boot. They fit true to size and come in several great shades.

It was so fun putting together these two Target styles for the holidays. But Target has so many other great options for holiday dressing, too. And you can find festive clothing for the whole family at Target here, including matching pajama sets, holiday t-shirts and festive jewelry. Or check out more of their holiday fashions for women here.

Don’t forget, Target also offers pick-up and same day delivery, depending on location and availability. And they already have some pretty amazing Black Friday Holiday deals up with a promise to price match should the item go lower at Target between now and December 24.

Let me know if you enjoyed seeing these festive and affordable options from Target. I selected a few other fun options in the shopping widget below. I’m grateful to Target for sponsoring the blog post today, but I selected the items shown myself and all opinions expressed are genuine.

Blessed for My Day

Some people view God’s Word as an ancient book full of do’s and don’ts. But if you read the Bible, you discover that it is so much more than that. It’s rich with stories of real-life people who lived out their walk with the Creator of this world with failures and successes, progress and pivots. And, more importantly, it’s the revelation of who God is and how He sees us. The longer we spend time reading His Word – humbly and with teachable spirits – the more we come to see His heart and our eyes are opened to His wisdom.

Make time to read God’s Word each day. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you read, helping you to understand the modern implications for those timeless words in their ancient setting. And as you read, as these questions: What does this show me about God? What does this passage teach me about people? Is there something I should do in response to what I’ve read?

Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. ~ Psalm 119:18

  1. Kay, Thank you for your wonderful Blessings for the Day that you write for us!!! Have a very blessed Thanksgiving!!!

  2. I love the outfits you have created. I found you at the perfect time-children grown, just moved to Tennessee, sold our business…My wardrobe was old and boring and I was ready to start anew. I have bought a lot of the clothes you recommend, I have the same classic style except with a little more color and more blues. My problem is I can’t remember how you styled the outfits. I can put things together-thanks for the advice on core colors-but I want to try them how you styled them. I go to look at your website, but it can be hard to find. Have you thought of having a button to click where you have a photo of each outfit you have styled? You could have it organized by seasons perhaps. Maybe you already have this and I can’t find it. I’ll go look again:)

I love your devotions everyday too:)

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Karin, soon the best way to find my daily outfits as well as other styles I’ve shown will be on the LTK app. You can access it online, too. But with my two new assistants I anticipate that we will begin having those on there, and that’s really what that app was made for, so it works great that way. I have a lot of my outfits on there now, but soon it will be all of them.
