I have a holiday wardrobe that I’ve added to every year. Many of those classic pieces that continue to look beautiful year after year are from Talbots. That’s why I don’t mind investing in something new to add to that collection each holiday season. But one of the ways I keep those traditional garments and accessories looking modern and fresh is simply pairing them with new and trending colors. So today I’m sharing a couple of holiday outfits from Talbots…featuring two fun color trends that are sure to make your events cheerful and bright!

Pink Isn’t Just for Little Girls

Perhaps you’ve heard about the Barbiecore trend? Yes, the beloved doll’s signature pink is trending high for 2022, and I expect to see it into 2023 as well. While Talbots is celebrating 75 years of classic fashions, the New England brand has never shied away from staying in step with the times either. So I was quite pleased but not surprised to see them introduce several great styles in this bright, cheerful pink.

I’m wearing the cashmere drop shoulder v-neck sweater in festive pink. It runs true to size for a generous fit. But Talbots also has other fashions and accessories that feature this fun color trend. I’ve gathered some for you in the shopping widget below. They’re all perfect for the holidays, too.

I’m wearing the festive pink sweater with the slim ankle pants in black floral lace. These pants are also available in red pop. They run true to size. Remember, I’m 5’8″, so if you’re shorter they may run a little longer on you. And the pants do come in petite and plus sizes, too. In fact, so many of Talbots’ fashions come in a full range of sizes including petite, plus and plus petite.

I finished off this cheerful pink and black ensemble with Talbots’ Isa buckle suede pumps in black. They feature a comfortable block heel and fit true to size. The pumps also come in red pop.

For darting in and out of the festive occasion, I topped the outfit with a lovely grey wool boucle coat. This beautiful mid-length coat will be so versatile this winter. It fits nicely true to size; I’m wearing a medium. I love the weight of this coat and the welt pockets.

I accessorized the festive pink, grey and black outfit with a gunmetal leather crescent shaped wristlet, my rings necklace (another option), small black sparkle hoops and an adorable reindeer brooch. He’s wearing that trending Barbiecore pink, too!

I love that Talbots creates classic styles with a modern twist. And that festive pink gives us the opportunity to participate in the Barbiecore trend without looking childish or silly. Don’t be afraid to incorporate this fun trend into your holiday wardrobe. You’ll look so stylish and cheerful!

Next Up, a Fresh Take on Trending Green

Green has been trending for over a year, but now we’re seeing new shades of this seasonal favorite. And Talbots is helping us step out in style this holiday with a vibrant but pale green that looks frosty cool and minty fresh, especially when paired with classic black and green tartan plaid.

I’m wearing a ribbed turtleneck in Talbots’ pale reed, a creamy lime green shade that looks perfect for the holidays but suitable for the rest of winter, too. In fact, it will look cheerful and bright as the days grow shorter and colder.

Pale Reed Turtleneck Top

I paired the puffed sleeve turtleneck with Talbots’ classic tartan plaid velveteen straight leg pants. These pants have just a bit of stretch so that they move easily with you while keeping their shape beautifully. They run true to size and are available in a full range of sizes, including misses, petite, plus and plus petite. Talbots also has straight leg velveteen pants in an assortment of solid colors, and those are available in long lengths and curvy fit.

I completed the outfit with a down vest in pear green. The pear green and pale reed are a little different from one another, but no bother! I think they layer beautifully. I’ve rounded up other items from Talbots in these pale but vibrant green shades in the shopping widget below the photo.

Can you imagine ways you could incorporate one of these creamy green pieces into your holiday wardrobe?

I love these two fresh takes on traditional holiday styles. Incorporating some new color trends into your classic holiday wardrobe is a great way to make your outfits look modern and festive. But if Barbiecore pink or creamy lime green are not your bag, consider infusing your holiday styles with vibrant blues, cheerful teals or vibrant purples. Let me know in the comments how you will use new colors to liven up your holiday outfits this year.

Blessed for My Day

The final key to having peace even when life gets stressful is to cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Appreciation is not just reserved for Thanksgiving. We are wise to count our blessings daily, even on the hardest of days. In fact, we can turn our prayers of petition into praises as we acknowledge, “Lord, I have a problem, but I know you’ve got this…and I’m ever so grateful.”

When we take everything to the Lord, but then thank Him for hearing us and acting on our behalf, we remind ourselves that “this” is not on us. He has made every resource available to us, and He will get us through. Want peace in your difficult times? Remember that God is at hand; He’s walking you through this. Pray to Him about your need and acknowledge that you cannot handle it on your own, but you know He can. And thank Him for answering…because you know He will.

The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:5b-7

  1. Love this post! Both outfits are lovely for the holidays but classic, not tacky. I love those green plaid velveteen straight leg pants in the second outfit. Love your color choice for the sweater with that outfit. Thanks for all of your inspiration!

  2. I am so happy for you that you got to spend Thanksgiving with your family this year. What a blessing. My husband and I both have colds so spent the day at home alone, but look back last year and all the wonderful memories when most of our loved ones were here. Looking forward to Christmas.
Love your outfits on you last year I bought a hot pink, V-neck cashmere sweater and wore it with burgundy velvet teen slacks from Ann Taylor. I also have the hot pink puffer vest from last year at Talbots and love it. Will be wearing it many times yet. The yellow green color looks good on you, but I will stay with my pinks. Have a blessed day.

  3. Since discovering my signature colors thanks to your printable library materials, Kay, I have found new ways to enjoy the green and red items already in my wardrobe. I added a new light blue sweater and a lovely sleeveless purple blouse this Fall. Blue and purple were not in my comfort zone, but I am getting “thumbs up” at my church coffee hour on these new experiments! I love your hairstyle in this post. My hair is very similar in color and texture so I look to you for inspiration as I try different lengths and styles.

  4. Good morning, Kay. I think the lime green is so pretty on you. It looks very pretty with the tartan plaid, but I also think it would look lovely in early spring when it’s still chilly out. Maybe with blue jeans and a white or cream colored vest. I hope you had a blessed thanksgiving.
