Hello sweet friends! I’m a little late with today’s scripture for our 2023 DFMD Scripture Meditation and Memory Challenge because we’ve been out of town this weekend. Plus, I have to confess, it has actually taken me this long to settle on my verse for these next two weeks. I’m keeping it short and simple this time, but I think this little verse packs a powerful punch.
In my reading for today in the Charles Stanley Life Principles Daily Bible, he shared Life Principle 23, which is, “You can never outgive God.” At the end of that essay, Dr. Stanley mentioned Psalm 116:12…and it stuck like glue to me.
Dr. Stanley wrote:
The psalmist asked, “What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me? (Ps. 116:12). The question could be translated, “How can I repay the Lord for all His goodness toward me?” The answer is, we can’t. No one can because no man or woman can outgive the Lord.Dr. Charles Stanley
I have spent no small amount of time lately reflecting on how very blessed I am. God has been so good to me, and none of it has been deserved. I am daily amazed by His benefits and the grace through which He has gifted me so much.
So while it is true that I cannot possibly repay our good and gracious God, I don’t ever want to take His blessings for granted. And I definitely want to give Him my heart, my hands, my feet and my voice every day as I strive to follow and obey Him. Especially for the next two weeks, and then for the remainder of the year, I will ask myself this profound question as I begin my day and even as I meditate on this scripture later in the day. “What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?” And I trust that as my heart ponders these words, He’ll show me how I can better serve and love Him that day with what I have to offer.
I look forward to hearing about your scripture choices today. Thank you so much for joining me in this endeavor. God bless you!
