As many of us are experiencing a heat wave, I thought it was a good day for a summer outfit with some easy breezy chambray tie-waist pants. Paired with a simple, cotton poplin shirt, these pants are both cool and classy. And I’m keeping the look fresh and just a bit elevated with pared back accessories.
This is the kind of simple one-two outfit I appreciate for so many summer occasions, including a day of browsing antique stores, lunch with friends or a backyard evening gathering. Everything is lightweight, breathable and extremely comfortable.
These loose fitting chambray pants feature an elasticized waist band as well as an adjustable tie. They have a high rise, but can be worn a little lower on the hips if you prefer. I find them to run true to size. I’m wearing the medium in the classic length. I’m 5’8″. The pants do come in tall and petite lengths, too.
My seaside tie-waist pants are in cotton chambray, but J.Crew has the same pants in linen blends and four different colors here.
I’m wearing a very lightweight, thin white classic-fit short-sleeve poplin shirt with my chambray seaside pants. Unfortunately, it’s sold out in my size 8, but it’s still available in a few sizes and other colors. This poplin shirt could be worn out or tucked, but with the cute thread-wrapped tie on the seaside tie-waist pants I think it’s great tucked in.

I completed this one-two look with my Edge slide sandals and minimal jewelry. I think that’s the beauty of summer outfits: they look fresh and stylish without a lot of fuss, especially if you choose fabrics that beautifully reflect the season.
By the way, these lightweight pants can do double duty on vacation, serving as out-to-dinner pants as well as beach or pool pants, sliding easily over your swimsuit. Plus, they’ll transition nicely into early fall, too. Just top with a lightweight cotton sweater or sweatshirt or even a long-sleeve button up shirt. Then finish the transitional look with sneakers or casual loafers.
I love the gentle solid colors in this outfit, as well as the soft fabrics of the season. And my eyes are really appreciating pared back jewelry this summer for a more refined, effortless look.

The older I get the more I value wisdom. More than anything I want to be a wise woman. Wisdom is more valuable than beauty, financial gain, multiple relationships or even comfort and health. When we have wisdom, we have something to offer others that is truly priceless and hard to find in this world.
How can we be wise women? Well fortunately, God makes wisdom accessible. First we simply need to understand that true wisdom only comes from God. He holds it in His hand ready to offer. Second we must seek wisdom with the right posture, one of humility and dependence. Finally, we must ask for it, acknowledging that God alone can give us this precious commodity. Then we will grow in wisdom as we spend time with God in prayer, Bible reading and scripture meditation.
God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.” ~ 2 Chronicles 1:11-12
I noticed you said in your email that you didn’t attend church on Sunday but yesterday’s mail said your husband preached a good sermon. Do you watch your church service online or listen on the radio? Just curious. 🙂 I like this outfit but I’m uncomfortable tucking tops in because I don’t have a nice waistline like yours.
Hi! I normally attend church. But it is online on both YouTube and Facebook. Sunday we had some car problems so stayed home and watched it on YouTube.

I absolutely love this look. We still have a lot of hot days ahead so my mind is not going to be on Winter just yet, I’ve got summer clothes I haven’t worn yet. Of course I’m sure I’m the only one with tags still on? ?
I loved the pants, but gave up after 5 tries to order them. They kept giving an error message, without a hint as to what the problem might be. Besides, the pants are non returnable, which should have been a deal breaker to begin with.
