I love to shop J.Jill for modern, relaxed, casual outfits. They seem to take their inspiration for their fabrics and styles from the outdoors, and that especially appeals to me. Their fabrics are soft, their fits are relaxed and their silhouettes are fresh. J.Jill recently got in new arrivals that are perfect for a trip to a warmer destination (I’m looking at you, Snow Bird!), so I’ve put together some of my favorites as well as a few style boards for outfit inspo.

clockwise, starting in top left: scarf // soft collar jacket // striped soft-knit collared tunic // crescent sling bag // more love bracelet // rayon from bamboo blend socks // high-rise patch-pocket wide-leg jeans // belted trench coat // Tretorn Rawlins 2.0 Sneakers

We can expect classic trench coats to continue to trend this spring, so this very relaxed vibe belted trench coat would be the perfect nod to that trend, especially for the woman who prefers a very casual style. Remember to check J.Jill’s size charts before ordering. I generally wear a size small in jackets, tops and dresses at J.Jill, but a size medium or 10 in pants. I do love those high-rise patch-pocket wide-leg jeans above, and I think they’re the perfect silhouette for a modern vibe. I got those Tretorn Rawlins 2.0 Sneakers in yesterday (#gifted) and I can tell you they run just a tad small. I’ll go ahead and keep my usual size 9.5M, but I could have used another 1/4 inch in the length.

Below I’ve put a few of my favorites from J.Jill into style boards. But guess what! J.Jill also has loads of their own styleboards showing you how to create multiple outfits with all of their new collection pieces HERE. Just click on the photos in the top row to see additional styleboards load. It’s pretty impressive really.

cardigan // jeans // top // sneakers // mules // bracelet // purse

Above we have a very relaxed, casual outfit that is perfect for a day of sightseeing or shopping. Do you spend any of the winter in a warmer destination. My parents have been spending a month of winter in Florida for so many years, and occasionally I get to join them. This is the type of outfit I’d wear for a day of strolling through the outlet mall or maybe going to a movie. Wear the sneakers during the day and switch into the mules for dinner out. Both are so comfortable.

button down top // pants // purse // scarf // shoes // necklace

The outfit above features Pure Jill affinity slim leg pants made from a 57% pima cotton, 38% Tencel™ modal and 5% spandex knit. Topped with a classic denim/chambray button-front top, this pairing makes a great travel outfit. Or wear it for a day of browsing a museum.

trench coat // sweater // jeans // bracelet // earrings // shoes

The jeans, sweater and trench coat combo above looks classy and pulled together, but still casual and relaxed. And aren’t those sand colored Blondo waterproof shoes cool? This is a perfect rainy day outfit.

Don’t forget to check out all the additional styleboards they have at J.Jill. I just happened to see this feature on their website today, so I’m not sure if this is a first or a regular practice of theirs. Let me know in the comments if you know. Unfortunately these new styles are not on sale at J.Jill, but J.Jill cardholders always get 5% off and 20% off during your birthday month.

Also, J.Jill does have so many winter styles on sale right now. And you’ll get an extra 40% off the markdown price. Place your order by 3 p.m. Eastern Time today and select express delivery to expect your order to arrive by December 24.

Blessed for My Day

Have you ever caught yourself complaining that life has gotten in your way? Sometimes, in my pursuit of the fairytale perfect life, I get upset when “real life” requirements or changes or scheduling or mistakes seem to get in the way of my ideals. But as we approach the week of Christmas, let’s not forget that Mary and Joseph began their journey to Bethlehem because of just such a nuisance. They had to go to Bethlehem to register…when Mary was great with child. What a bother!

And yet, we know from Micah 5:2 that God had already ordained that the Savior, the Messiah, would indeed come forth from this seemingly insignificant sleepy town. So whether Mary or Joseph knew the significance of their journey beforehand or not, they were actually right in the middle of God’s will. This Christmas let’s remember that we also have no idea how God can use the circumstances of our lives to accomplish His great plans. Let’s relax into His sovereignty and trust that He is at work, even in the apparent nuisances that sometimes interrupt our idea of perfect.

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.~ Luke 2:1

xoxo, Kay
