Make it a Blue Christmas Holiday Look

Well merry Christmas, sweet gal! I think it’s safe to say that now. Don’t you? We hung the greenery at our church Sunday evening and I have a red poinsettia in my living room. So I think it’s definitely beginning to look (and feel!) like Christmas. But Christmas doesn’t have to look red and green, does it? In fact, I suggest you make it a blue Christmas. Check out this lovely blue and black holiday look.

blue pullover sweater

This elegant blue Christmas holiday look hinges on a warm and simple, but stunning bright blue sweater. This sweater is 40% off today. You don’t need to use a code, but the discount will show up when you put it in your cart.

This cotton blend crew neck sweater is available in 10 colors. I’m wearing a medium so I’d say it fits true to size or maybe a tad small. Definitely go with the larger size if you waffle between two, like I do. And, as noted on the website, this sweater is slightly cropped, so you definitely want to wear high rise jeans or pants with it.

Black and blue Christmas Holiday Look

I love this pop of bright blue against all black for a chic holiday look. This outfit is simple enough to wear to lunch with friends, but sophisticated enough for a house party or dinner out, too. And for getting to and from the party, I just added my black puffer jacket (30% OFF with code HOLIDAY) . I’ve removed the faux fur collar to make room for this luxurious, colorful scarf.

tartan plaid fringed scarf

The tartan plaid fringed scarf is from J.Jill, and it’s 30% off right now with code GIFT19. I love that this scarf is wide enough to bundle up around your neck for warmth, it’s made of an ultra soft weave and it features subtle hints of the same bright blue that’s in my sweater. This scarf also makes a lovely Christmas gift because she can certainly continue to wear it after the season. Buy one for you…and one for her!!

jeans and pumps

Black jeans and black pumps create a chic one-two punch to feature any sweater of your choice in a classic holiday look this season. My black denim jeggings are a dark, true black and they keep their depth with washing as long as you wash inside out in cold water. I’m wearing a 6 in the regular fit, but they also come in a curvy fit. Plus, they’re available in petite, plus and petite plus sizes. The jeans and all other full price items at Talbots are 30% off with code HOLIDAY. Take 50% off markdowns.

My black suede pumps are a recent purchase from Ann Taylor. Their shoes do not disappoint. I own several pairs and they consistently run true to size. Here’s a lower heel option (I have these in the frosted almond and love them.). Ann Taylor has extended their Cyber Monday sale. Get 50% off and FREE SHIPPING with code CYBER. But you also might want to check out these from Target that I own and love but can’t find since we moved. Ha!

Jewelry that dazzles

The only additional colors I added to my black and blue Christmas holiday look are in my jewelry. I think the holidays give us good reason to buy a few baubles that dazzle. So I took advantage of the sale and added these tubular pave hoop earrings with multicolored gems and these stacked jeweled rings. Then I just added a gold necklace and bangle from my jewelry box (no longer available). I don’t know if it helps you any, but I’m comfortably wearing an 8 in the rings. (I have pretty chunky fingers.) The jewelry is 40% today. The discount will appear when you put it in your cart.

black satchel handbag

I’m so disappointed that my new Michael Kors satchel is already sold out in the black. It’s available in a beautiful red, however. And this bag, for almost the same price, is a lovely and classic substitute. I love this bag and added it to my collection because I wanted one that is structured and classic, one that looks perfectly suitable for more casual outfits, but also lovely for dressier occasions. Here’s a more economical option that fits the bill.

Blue Christmas Holiday Look

I enjoy wearing the traditional red and green a good bit during the Christmas season. But every now and again I prefer to wear something different. So this bright blue sweater combined with all things black is such a perfect option. Don’t you think?

Blessed for My Day

Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. God so loves the world that He sent Jesus to do what no mortal man could do. He came to die for us so that we might live.

But we also learn about the character of our Creator through Jesus. We learn that God is compassionate, tender-hearted, engaging, giving and gentle. Take a few moments today to think about the other attributes of God that you have discovered through reading about and getting to know Jesus. Praise Him for who He is today.

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. ~ Hebrews 1:1-2

Spread the love

  1. Kay, you glow in Royal Blue…..beautiful color combo for you. That is my favorite color of blue. I wear red, green, gold, royal blue, buffalo plaid and a few other classic plaids at Christmas. I also wear black and dazzle it up with some bling too. ~Lisa~

  2. You look absolutely beautiful in this outfit. Love the scarf and vest look too! Thank you for brightening my day!

    God bless, Rhonda

  3. What a great color on you! I have that exact color as well in that style. And it’s my fav alternative color for the holidays! Looks stunning with black/white houndstooth on the bottom as well. I recently purchased a longer cardigan in that color so that will stretch my wardrobe even farther. That scarf you’ve styled is a fun addition for a pop of color!

    1. Thanks Gina. Ooh, yes. I bet black and white houndstooth will look great. Thanks so much for sharing. I think I will really enjoy this sweater.

  4. Kay, You look fabulous in that gorgeous shade of blue! It is one of my favorite colors and really adds gorgeous flair to black. And the plaid scarf is so pretty and very versatile. Have a beautiful day!

  5. Beautiful bright blue on you! It’s one of my favorite colors, so maybe I can duplicate this look easily! Thanks for blessing our day each morning with fashion and faith!

  6. Thanks for the inspiration! I bring out all my sparkly scarves for the holidays and make sure I incorporate them into my outfits. Love that blue! Kay, is there a way you can enlarge and darken the type in the comment area? I find it difficult to make comments on your blog because of this. Thanks!

    1. Hi Linda. Thanks for sharing. Yes, I love to wear my special holiday accessories each year too. In fact I did a post about that last year. Maybe I should do that again soon.

Unfortunately I can’t change the print in the comment area. But I’m getting a complete overhaul on my blog soon and I’ve mentioned to my designer that you gals prefer dark and large print, so hopefully she will set it up that way. I’m sorry it’s hard for you to read. I completely understand.

  7. Lovely outfit! At 52, I’ve been growing out my gray/silver hair this year and find that brighter colors make my new hair come to life. My question is how do you deal with cold, snowy weather with your shoes? I live in a snowy area and wonder how to wear shoes that require socks for warmth yet still look stylish. Boots are not always an option for me for various reasons. I’d love some advice. I read your posts daily and enjoy them very much. God bless!

    1. Hmmm. Let me think on that. Since I just moved here in August I’m certainly learning myself. But if I’m going to wear shoes like these I park as close as possible to the door or have my husband drop me off. I also think it’s perfectly acceptable to carry a pair of pretty shoes to change into in a pretty shoe bag.
