Elevated Casual Camel Blazer Outfit

Happy Monday! And welcome to Dressed for My Day. Last Thursday I featured my camel wool blazer in a Winter Classics casual Friday outfit. Today’s outfit is not so different, but I’d like to focus a little more on the versatility of this classic jacket. I’m styling an elevated casual camel blazer outfit.

Versatile Camel Blazer Outfit

Again I’m wearing my camel wool blazer over a button up shirt and jeans. The changes I’ve made to the outfit are slight. Instead of animal print pumps, I’m wearing brown suede block heel pumps. And instead of a white button up shirt, I’ve switched in a blue cotton shirt with whimsical pups. You may also notice I switched out the darker wash jeans for the same denim skinnies in a lighter wash.

I love a classic blazer with jeans. Whether the blazer is navy, black, red, camel or even white, it’s a great way to elevate a pair of jeans and still keep the outfit fresh and current. And of course, you can create similar looks with a plaid blazer, too.

Blazer

I was really hoping this blazer would be marked down today, but it’s not. And sizes are going fast. It is, however, better stocked in the other colors: black, night blue and tortoiseshell. I also have the tortoiseshell jacket and wore it much this way yesterday to church. I wore it over this red ruffle front blouse from Chico’s (which is on sale, also available in white, and going fast!).

Check out this polyester camel blazer at Express! Lovely. And it’s on sale today!

Walking

My jeans are the same kind as the ones in Thursday’s post, just a lighter wash. These are the medium wash; those were the Jamie high-rise indigo jeans in their dark wash. They are a little pricey, but I would put them on the same level as the AG jeans I own. And today they’re 30% off with code BIGSALE, putting them within reach for premium denim. I’m wearing a size 30, the higher of the two sizes I usually buy. And I might could wear the 29s because these are definitely roomy in the waistband. But I’m enjoying the more comfortable fit honestly. And they still stay up without drooping.

Jeans

I purchased my amazingly comfortable Paul Green suede Tammy pumps on sale a few weeks ago, and now they’re almost gone. They’re still on sale, however. Of course Paul Green shoes (also here at Nordstrom Rack) are never really inexpensive. They are a brand known for amazing comfort paired with good style. No joke, most of the Paul Green shoes I’ve tried on have felt like walking in puffy clouds. They are soft on the foot, cushioned and well crafted. So whenever I see them on sale I take note.

My Bag

Another great way to add interest to your outfit is to carry a sleek backpack rather than a more traditional shoulder or handbag. My Tumi bag features an outside pocket for your phone with a magnetic closure for safety, as well as a number of other great compartments. It’s also available in Cordovan. While backpacks have been around for a while, they’re really trending right now. I mainly bought mine for my monthly daytrips that James and I take, but I’ve been using it almost every day since purchasing it. I’ll link to more economical options in the shopping widget below.

Switch to Sneakers

On this day I was carrying my sneakers (my more economical recommendation, 20% for insiders) in my backpack. I love wearing sneakers with jeans and a blazer. So fresh and fun!

I also untucked my shirt for this more casual look. For both looks my jewelry is simple. I’m wearing my favorite Kendra Scott Tima studs, a simple gold bangle (similar) and a fun brooch (no longer available, but I have options in the shopping widget).

Blazer with Sneakers

I realize this outfit may not offer enough warmth right now for many of my readers. But spring is coming! And this is actually a great transition-into-spring outfit. I’ll have additional options for the blazer and shirt (which is on sale but almost sold out) in the shopping widget below.

Blazer and sneakers

You could also wear this classic camel blazer with a simple t-shirt for an elevated, casual look. I bet I’ll be showing that later this spring or next fall. Meanwhile, consider how you can wear the blazers in your closet with a fresh twist.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. Let me know if you have questions about anything I’ve shared here. Have a great Monday!

Blessed for My Day

I don’t remember where I read it, but somewhere I heard the suggestion to tell God, “I love You, too.” You see, God loves us first. We love because He first loved us. He initiated the relationship. And He paid the price for it.

Especially as women, that ought to sweep us off our feet. There’s just something about being pursued. Am I right? And that, dear one, is exactly what God does. He pursues us. He pays the bill. He opens the door. And He tells us over and over again, I love you. So we can say, I love You, too.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because He first loved us.  ~ 1 John 4:18-19

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. I love that about saying I love you too, to God. Most couples have a ritual at night that goes something like this. “Goodnight. I love you. Don’t forget to pray for me” and the other says “I love you too. Goodnight.” ?What a great thought to tell God that. I love you too, God!

Classic look, blazer, jeans, chambray shirt, white sneakers. I don’t like a fitted blazer but I have my own more casual version of this jacket. My shirt has anchors instead of pups but it is a favorite of mine and works. I love your blazer but I have a posture problem so fitted can be a problem for me. The camel color looks great with jeans.

  2. Very cute, classic and modern look, Kay. I have a question about your blazer. I thought the Veronica Beard camel blazer you showed last fall was so lovely. What were you looking for different in this blazer and how do you style them differently?

    1. Hi Lael. I don’t have a camel Veronica Beard blazer. Mine is black. This is the only camel one I own. But i did order the polyester one from Express that I linked to above just to see if it might be a nice option for not wool. You might be thinking of a camel blazer I picked up in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, but I returned it. The quality was not good. The lining was a mess on that one.

      1. Yes, I was thinking of the one you picked up at the Nordstrom sale with wider lapels and more tailored fit. Sorry, thought it was a VB.

  3. Kay, this is a great look on you. Camel is your color. Thank you for showing us how to tweak an outfit to get a different vibe. Fingers crossed on the house!

  4. I have a camel blazer from J Crew that I got a 3 weeks ago. They have such good quality blazers.
I got it on sale. I think there is still a sale on them. Love it with jeans like you did or you can dress
    it up. Thanks Kay.

  5. I love the way you presented God pursuing us. All, well maybe most, women want to be pursued and this was such a great word picture of that desire.

  6. The way you presented the camel blazer is exactly how I would wear it! Will have to pursue that. But I have been admiring your nail polish! Would you mind telling me the name? I hope you get the house you want .

  7. I love this look so much and have worn it many times! Stay safe and warm during this storm we are getting. We haven’t had a winter like this for several years!

  8. I am new to your blog and am very happy to find you! You have all the right elements. You are my christian sister, you are a great educator and with a style and age I can relate to. I hope to keep it “modern” with your help!
