Welcome to Dressed for My Day! While my favorite kind of blog post is one that offers lots of practical styling tips that resonate with women over 50, sometimes you just gotta review the latest offerings at one of your favorite clothing stores. I know so many of my readers love shopping the classic fashions at Talbots, so today I’m breaking down my Talbots fall fashion favs and sharing a little insight along the way.
This post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links.
Right now Talbots is having their Fall Fashion Event with 25% off your regular price purchase. PLUS they’re offering an extra 60% off markdowns. AND they have their last year’s cashmere sweaters marked down to $75. AND THEN they’re offering that additional 25% off that price, too! Crazy good!
The photos in the post are all shoppable links. Just click on the item to be taken to the Talbots website to shop.

Favorite Fall 2022 Sweaters & Vests
I imagine Talbots will introduce more sweaters in October and even November. But the September line does include the Audrey cashmere sweaters, which are always my favorite. Don't forget, last year's cashmere is available for $75 minus 25%, but of course sizes are very limited. And this year's collection includes two beautiful donegals.
You'll also find some pretty Johnny collar sweaters in my favorites. I'm really enjoying button up and zipper collars these days. They're just a nice switch-up from the usual v-necks or crews. Remember, all of the sweaters I've included here are available in additional colors, so click through to see the full offerings.
I've long been a fan of Talbots' jeans. They're not as pricey as most premium denim, but I think they fit well and generally are available in fairly modern silhouettes. And they're made for the older woman's physique. I wear a curvy fit in some of Talbots' pants, but a regular cut in the jeans.
This year I've selected a pair of Talbots barely boot cut jeans in the favorites because these are trending. And did you know that shorter or more petite women will look taller if you choose a barely or demi boot cut jean rather than one with really wide bell bottoms? I think these may be worth a shot!
This is a pretty wide category, but I only have a few favorites among Talbots' current dresses, skirts and shirts. I have begun to enjoy wearing button up shirts more, so I did select one of their print shirts as well as their classic perfect shirt in white. I tried Talbots' new oversized white shirt (and the striped) and I'm not a fan. I felt like the shirt was just very long, not truly oversized. And I couldn't get it to work with anything, so I sent it back. But their Perfect shirt is a great one for layering or wearing alone.
I found some really nice accessories among the September New Arrivals. I really could have selected more, but I didn't want to overwhelm you with my choices. So I'm just sharing the ones I'm really considering adding to my own wardrobe. Most of these are pretty classic, but Talbots has lots more accessories that are fun and colorful.
Talbots has introduced some really nice footwear for fall. I wore my Talbots Chelsea boots sooo much last fall. They don't have a true Chelsea boot in the mix right now, I don't think. But they have some similar ankle boot silhouettes. And I'm so glad their riding boots are offered in extended calf sizes.
I find Talbots footwear generally runs true to size for me. And the shoes and boots with soft pebbled leather or other soft fabrication generally feel extremely comfortable.
They have a good selection of jackets and cardigans in this new collection, too. Remember cardigans are not really trending right now, but the button-up v-neck cardigans would be my suggestion if you need one. And it's very on trend to actually wear that style cardigan buttoned up.
You'll find additional jackets at the Talbots website for athleisure, but I just selected some classics for everyday wear.
Some days this makes me happy; other days not so much. But the truth is, God does reward our faith. That doesn’t mean we can wield our faith like a magic wand and get our way. But it does mean that God is pleased when we exercise true faith. Remember, true faith is taking God at His Word. It is believing that He is able to do what He says He will do. Faith is also believing God is who He says He is. And many times in the New Testament we see Jesus reward those with such a faith by healing them or their loved ones.
I’ve noticed that Jesus was more prone to reward those who didn’t just believe He could do something for them, but who demonstrated that they believed He was who He said He was. They recognized His authority, His power, His deity. That’s really quite different from trusting God to do something specific for you, isn’t it? That kind of faith requires a humility and a bending of the knee to His will over your own. It acknowledges that in the end, He knows best and you accept His call on the matter. Where do you get that kind of faith? Through daily worship. The more we worship God – acknowledge He is worthy of our honor and obedience – the more we will approach Him with that kind of amazing faith.
Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” ~ Matthew 9:29
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ~ Hebrews 11:6
