Happy Friday! Do you have any Christmas events to attend this weekend? Well it may or may not be too late to put together the outfit I’m sharing with you today for a holiday event this weekend, but if you like what you see here you absolutely can get it by midweek. This outfit is almost entirely from Target, so it’s a beautiful and versatile holiday event outfit on a budget. ***PLUS Target just announced that you can get all women’s clothing for 20% off today and Saturday only. Sweet!

My velvet pants are from my closet. I got them at Talbots several years ago, and they’re really about two sizes too big for me. But you can get the same pants (in a size that fits you!) from Talbots right now, too. And they’re 30% off with code HOLIDAY. Who knows! Maybe Talbots has even sweetened the deal by now.

But the rest of this outfit is from Target. And you can order from Target.com, have the items delivered to your neighborhood store for free and usually pick your order up within just a few days. For instance, when I wrote this post on Thursday evening I checked the delivery date I could expect if I placed my order then. I would get my order by Wednesday, December 12th. So you could easily have these or other items from Target by your holiday event next weekend.

This red eyelet lace tassel blouse runs on the larger side. For some reason, I got a medium, but I definitely should have had a small. I have it pinned in the back because the medium is too large for me. So be sure to order the smaller size you would normally wear, or even size down one. It’s plenty roomy all over.

The blouse is also available in black.

I’m wearing this black stones necklace with a pair of earrings my son gave me for Christmas last year. These studs would coordinate well, but if you’d prefer hoops you could go with these. And if you like to sparkle a little more, these would also coordinate well.

I’m carrying this flat foldover clutch in gunmetal. It has an optional shoulder chain strap and is also available in black.

I’m still enjoying these black microsuede pumps from Target, and I’m finding them to be very comfortable. They run large; order down 1/2 size. For a lower heel selection, check out these kitten heel slingbacks.

The nice thing about this holiday outfit on a budget is that all the pieces are very versatile and will coordinate with other things in your closet – including your jeans! – beyond the holidays. You might find all these pieces in your local Target, but when you order online, they’ll pull everything for you and having it waiting at the pick-up counter. That’s a great way to beat the holiday crowds and get just want you want (without picking up $100 worth of other things you didn’t mean to get!!).

And remember, today and Saturday only, Target is offering 20% off all women’s clothing.

If you like this outfit, why not pin this post to one of your Pinterest boards and/or share it on your Facebook feed? Blessed for My Day

I watch a lot of Hallmark movies at this time of year. As movies go, they’re sweet, clean and simple. In fact, I do get a little tired of the simplistic formula. I also sometimes get a little miffed at the producers’ tendency to skim over the true meaning behind Christmas and assign fluffy, worldly meanings to this sacred holiday instead. They seem to think Christmas is all about things like hope, kindness and love.

Wait a minute. Yes, there actually is more to Christmas than hope, kindness and love. But honestly, those sentiments – in their fullest sense – are exactly what Christmas is about. Because Christ was born in the flesh, we have hope. A hope we did not have without our Savior. And it is out of the purest kindness – lovingkindness – that a holy God sent His only Son to save a wretch like you and me. And why did He show us such kindness? Because He loves us passionately, wildly, fervently. His love is so big that it propelled Him to sacrifice His son for the likes of us.

This Christmas you and I know that we celebrate more than warm, fuzzy feelings, right? But let’s not forget to feel something, too. Let’s respond to the hope God kindly and lovingly gave us…with heartfelt gratitude and awe. And then let’s share that hope and love with those around us.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. ~ John 4:7-9

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. I love your ideas for “how to” after the holidays – how to dress slimmer, how to dress on a budget. How about how to minimize a larger chest? (I love your suggestions for better photos, especially the “open” arms/lift out from body suggestion. I have been trying it in the mirror, and it works! My top doesn’t look so wide.)

  2. Love all your posts so much! Jeans, jeans, jeans is what I wear every day of the year – I would really appreciate your styling tips and tricks for jeans. One other thought for a post before Christmas would be how to dress for a flight and pack light for holiday travels. My husband and I are traveling to NC on Christmas Day to visit family and returning home on January 1. Packing makeup is always a trick when traveling to a different altitude. Thanks again for all the help you give.
