So many of my readers here at Dressed for My Day have been asking for affordable fall dresses to wear to weddings, showers and church. So today I’ve teamed up with Kohl’s to share with you three oh so feminine dresses from their Draper James RSVP collection. And I can tell you that not only are these dresses easy on your pocketbook, but they feel comfortable and ladylike. Score!

You’ll stand out in the crowd and pop against the autumn decor in this stunning blue floral wrap midi dress from Draper James RSVP. A wrap dress is almost universally flattering and so easy to wear. Especially if you fluctuate in your weight and size, a midi dress is forgiving and oh so feminine.
The Draper James RSVP floral midi dress runs true to size; I’m wearing my usual medium. And it does feature a small, discreet fastener at the neck for modesty. The dress is made of a rayon/spandex blend and it is machine washable on delicate. And this floral midi dress, as well as all the other dresses I’m sharing, comes in plus sizes.
I chose to complete this dress ensemble with coordinating blue suede block heel pumps. If you plan to wear a dress for several special events, I think it’s fun to go all out and select shoes that match. It’s such a fun way to pull a look together. The Nine West pumps fit true to size and are quite comfortable. They come in other pretty colors, too.
I carried a small crossbody clutch with the pretty blue midi dress. The small crossbody, which comes in six pretty shades, features slots for cards and cash, and it has a magnetic closure. It also has an optional wrist strap that I detached.
Next I selected a green and white clip dot fit and flare dress, also from Draper James RSVP. It features a gently cinched waistband and puff sleeves.
The bodice of this fit and flare dress is lined, but the skirt is not, so I would suggest wearing a slip underneath. The dress fits true to size and also comes in a pretty maroon and pink combination. A fit and flare dress, especially one that features a blousy bodice like this one, is another forgiving and flattering dress option for so many body shapes. The green and white fit and flare dress is also available in plus sizes. The neckline on this dress does not feature a fasten, but I had no problem with it staying together.
I accessorized all three dresses with a single strand of graduated simulated pearls and a double strand simulated pearl bracelet, both by 1928. To balance all of those pearls, I wore simple gold oval hoop earrings.
And I completed this fit and flare dress and the next dress with simple but elegant nude leather pumps, also by Nine West. They fit comfortably, true to size.
And yes, I did wear pantyhose with all three of these affordable fall dresses. The very next day I wore a dress without hosiery. I think you can do either and still look stylish and modern. Do what works best for you and makes you feel most comfortable and pretty.
I rounded out my selection of Draper James RSVP frocks with a simple black tie-front fit and flare dress. I think it’s smart for every woman to have a solid black (or navy, if preferred) dress in her closet. This is the dress you can pack in a hurry for a funeral, of course. But you can also enjoy wearing it for so many other occasions.
The black fit and flare dress looks like a wrap dress, but you actually pull it on over your head. The v-neckline does feature a hook and thread closure for modesty. And the fabric belt is removable and could be replaced with another belt if you’d prefer. Of course, I’d recommend clipping off those belt “loops” that you see on my dress.
This fit and flare dress is made in that same rayon/spandex blend as the blue midi dress, and it, too, is machine washable on delicate cycle. The fit and flare dress also comes in a stunning solid red and runs true to size. You’ll find the black and red fit and flare dresses in plus sizes here.

Blessed for My Day
Today may you know the sweet companionship of the Lord as you walk through this day, whatever it may hold. Be assured that you are not alone and you do not have to carry the burdens of the day by yourself either. You have a Friend who will carry you and work all things together for your good as you go through the good and the bad in this day. Keep your eyes on Him, dear sister. Look to Him for answers, wisdom, provision and strength.
Even if you feel alone and overwhelmed, those feelings are not trustworthy. The truth is that the Lord has offered you His sweet companionship throughout this day. Acknowledge your feelings, feel them for a moment. But them set them aright by speaking the truth to yourself. Write out Psalm 25;14-15 and keep it with you. Speak these reassuring words to yourself as needed throughout the day.

I always enjoy your posts but your words of spiritual comfort were so needed today. I broke my ankle a few days ago and am dependent upon my 83 year old mother for help in our split level home. Yesterday my daughter and young grandson were ill and ended up staying with us. As a person who is usually the caregiver to others I am finding it quite the challenge to be in reverse roles. Thank you for your gentle reminder of our constant friend who is so aware of our circumstances. 💕
God has used you so many time in your BFMD, and he did again this morning. Last week was a very stress-full week for me but I knew God was carrying me thru that. This week–Tues. AM–I woke up to find I had Shingles on my shoulder and arm! So again this morning I have been reminded, with your inspirational sharing, that the Lord is here caring me through whatever. I shared this verse with my Dr. yesterday: I Peter 5:7 …Casting all your anxieties (cares) on the Lord for he cares for you. Thank you for keeping the glorious truths of the Gospel before us in your blog. You are a blessing to us in so many ways.

Nice to see dresses featured, and to see how you pulled everything together. All the dresses looked very nice on you. I no longer wear dresses in cold weather because I can’t find comfortable panty hose. You wrote that you did wear pantyhose for these photos, and it gives the dresses a more dressed-up look, which I like. I’d love to see more about which panty hose are comfortable, etc., if possible. The waistbands are always excruciatingly tight, and I have had several GI surgeries, with another to come, so I can’t wear anything tight on my waist. The same goes for leggings – I don’t know anything about how to wear them and which ones are comfortable. Thank you for providing so many options for all our different tastes and styles.
Just purchased the black fit-n-flare dress. I need a new black dress that looks a bit more modern than my 15 year old stand by. I have never purchased clothing from Kohl’s, but I’m going to give this one a try.
Kay, you look stunning in all of these. I have bought dresses from Kohls in the past and have been very pleased. Thanks for talking about the pantyhose issue. In the winter I like to wear tights but struggle with the proper colors to coordinate clothes, tights and footwear. Would you consider doing a post or video on that?
We can certainly talk tights in a future post. Generally I recommend you wear tights in the same color as your boots if possible.
