Hello gals, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. Today I’m teaming up with my fashionable friend Susanne at Thompson Hill to bring you two fall outfits. We really just agreed to style fall fashions and made no more specific plans than that. But since we are at least both wearing heels, we’ve titled our collaboration Dressed Up for Fall.

Wrap Top + Ponte Knit Pants

Obviously Susanne is dressed up beautifully enough for a nice dinner out, a fall wedding or an evening at the symphony. But for today’s post I decided to dress up for work. I know many of my readers work in offices where you need to dress in career clothing. Or, like me, you at least have ample occasions when you like to look professional.

If you’re visiting from Thompson Hill today or you’re new to Dressed for My Day, let me just share my sizing info with you real quick. I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 148 lbs. I usually wear a 6 in jeans, an 8 in dress pants, smalls in shirts and sometimes I need a medium in jackets or coats because I have broad shoulders.

I’m not sure I can even express to you how impressed I am with this outfit. And that’s not because I put it together. In fact, this ensemble was styled by my Nordstrom Trunk Club stylist, Shelly. If you’re interested in giving Trunk Club a try (it’s really risk fee, especially if you have a Nordstrom card), then you’ll get to meet and work with Shelly, too.

These ponte knit pants are undoubtedly some of the most comfortable and easy-to-wear pants I’ve ever put on my body. The waist hits just below your naval and they feature a zip fly with a hook and bar closure. They also have belt loops and pockets, so you could just as easily tuck in a pretty blouse or sweater and wear a belt.

I like that these pants create a slim silhouette and hit at the ankle, but they’re not tight or clingy. So you can wear them with most any silhouette of top, fitted or full. I’m wearing a size 8 in the ponte knit pants.

While I love this true black shade, the ponte knit pants are available in half a dozen fall-worthy colors. If I worked in an office, I would own at least a few of them!

This bright blue striped wrap top flatters most every body shape and proportions. It’s a true wrap blouse, so I worried that it might not stay closed in the front. But I have had no problems with it gaping open at all. I’m wearing a size small in the wrap top.

The blouse is also available in a beautiful buttery yellow print. But this green mixed floral wrap top by the same designer is almost half off. And there’s also a black print and a red stripe similar to the blue one I’m wearing here. I also found this wrap top at Nordstrom that comes in some beautiful fall prints. I especially love the teal shaded floral and the navy bouquet.

Once again, if I worked outside of my home office, I’d probably own at least a few of these. So easy and yet so flattering.

My block heel shoes are a little pricey, but they are so unique and so extremely comfortable that I bit the bullet and kept them. By Marc Fisher, these shoes sport a classic tweed fabric with just a touch of shine in it. The block heel makes them extremely easy to walk in. While the reviews seem to be all over the place as to the fit, I find them slightly on the big side, but not so large that I would size down. They didn’t slip on my feet when I walk or anything, but they are pleasantly roomy.

These Marc Fisher beauties come in another equally classic tweed fabric as well. They are both available at Zappos through the links I’ve provided. If you prefer to shop through Nordstrom, which is where I got mine obviously, you’ll have to settle for one of the many solid colored suedes or leathers, or the black snake print. Nordstrom is out of the fabric upper shoe. They do, however, have this Marc Fisher block heel leopard print pump or this Sam Edelman pump, also leopard print with block heels.

Obviously the block heel is very on trend right now. I didn’t really think I would like them on, but I do. I love them, in fact! I’m planning to wear them also with black and colored jeans. You’ll see that soon!

I’m carrying my circle handle satchel from Target. Remember, it’s also available in a pretty red.

I kept my jewelry very simple, since this is an office look, and simply wore silver earrings (similar), my silver Fossil watch and my James Avery leather cord necklace and shield of faith pendant. Of course, I also have on my James Avery adorned hearts ring.

I love that this outfit features basic black trousers that are so versatile, a flattering wrap top (available in so many beautiful and current prints) and these stylish and comfortable block heel pumps. This kind of outfit is really the bedrock of a great working woman wardrobe. It’s perfect for business travel, a day at the office, a speaking engagement, an interview or even church.

I really thought my stylist Shelly did a great job with my trunk this month. You’ll see other pieces from it in upcoming blog posts. Remember, Trunk Club is a service of Nordstrom and it’s free for card holders. If you don’t have a Nordstrom card, you simply pay a $50 styling fee which is then credited toward the purchase of any merchandise in your trunk. They make this program so effortless and treat you like a queen. They even send the tape for you to re-pack the trunk before you send it back via UPS…free. And they schedule your pick-up for you! Easy peasey!

If you’ve come my way via Susanne, welcome! I’m so glad you dropped by today. Susanne is just a jewel and we have enjoyed learning this blogging biz together. We didn’t know each other, of course, until we discovered that we had started blogging around the same time. But we’ve enjoyed talking on the phone and emailing back and forth since then. She and the other blogging friends I’ve made have definitely been some of the sweetest benefits of this blogging journey. And you, dear readers, are another.

If you’re not already a subscriber to Dressed for My Day, we can take care of that right here. I’d love to see you around here more often. And if you enjoyed today’s post, I hope you’ll take just a moment to leave me a comment, pin the post on one of your Pinterest boards and/or share it on Facebook.

And don’t forget to check out the details of Susanne’s outfit at Thompson Hill. Now go have a blessed and beautiful day!

Blessed for My Day

Today I pray for you to be blessed with the strength, clarity of mind, efficiency and time to do your work well. May you accomplish the tasks on your to-do lists, but more importantly, the tasks on the Lord’s to-do lists. That takes flexibility and patience, doesn’t it? Sometimes I grow frustrated by interruptions and delays. But honestly, sometimes in hindsight I discover that those detours were divine appointments and not the waste of time I first deemed them to be. So instead of fussing and fuming, let’s commit to steadily working through the day with the goal of pleasing the Lord.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men ~ Colossians 3:23

I’ve also linked up today’s post with the Style on the Daily link-up, so after you’ve checked out Susanne’s post, you might want to check out all the great fashions there. I’ve also linked to the Fashion Friday Link-Up at Jo-Lynne Shane’s.

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay
