Well, hello weekend! What is it about the weekend that just makes us feel different somehow? Even though I work from home, I find myself dressing differently on the weekends than I do during the week. Go figure. Yesterday I really enjoyed wearing my wide leg crop pants…again…and it occurred to me that I haven’t even shared them with you. Shame on me. This little trend is too fun to keep a secret!

One of the reasons I haven’t shared these yet is that I’m not thrilled with this pairing. Since I took these photos a few weeks ago I’ve decided that these light khaki pants look better with darker tops. And that’s how I’ve been wearing them since then. But because I don’t seem to be getting around to having new pictures taken with these cute, comfy pants I decided to go ahead and share. Plus, they’re on sale right now!!!

These particular wide leg crop pants are tied at the waist with a removable same-fabric tie. You could exchange the tie for a nice leather belt or even a pretty skinny scarf if you chose. These also come in a darker khaki that I would really prefer. They’re shown in the shopping widget below with a lot of other great options.

I really think it’s best to wear your shirt tucked in or at least front tucked with wide leg pants. Otherwise, your entire outfit will look too loose and full. To create a trim and long silhouette, I like a fitted shirt with wide leg pants, too. That’s another reason I haven’t shown these photos before. I’d prefer a more tailored shirt with these pants. In fact, I think a very fitted shirt would look especially nice with them, and I’m still on the lookout for such an animal!

I do like this embellished coral watercolor tee. It reminds me of the sea, which is always a pleasant thought in the summertime.

I just wish it were more fitted. Here’s a snapshot we took with my phone of me in a different shirt. Still not as fitted as I’d like, but more contrasting in color. I really like this outfit better.

Wide leg crop pants have a very sophisticated causal look because they’re trending, but really classic, too. Remember wearing these once upon a time? I think we called them culottes! Same thing…just a more modern appeal. And yes, older women can absolutely wear them! Just tuck that top in. Even if you’re used to leaving your top untucked these days, tuck it in with these! I promise you it will look best. It actually creates more of a feminine silhouette, even if you’re a little thicker in the waistline than you’d like.

I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed wearing my wide leg crop pants. We went into Tucson yesterday, where it’s 1000°, and I felt as cool in these as I would a pair of shorts. Sooo much cooler than I would have in jeans or any other long pants. And yet I felt dressed up. I think these wide leg pants are a great option.

By the way, a lot of the items in today’s shopping widgets are on major sale right now. Just check the sites for the codes you need to apply at checkout. And some of the sales are only available online, too. So be sure to check them out.

Thanks so much for dropping in today. Let me know what you think about wide leg pants, especially crop pants. Have you tried them? Do you wear them? Why or why not? I just like to keep a pulse on my readers, so I’d love to hear your take.

Blessed for My Day

May you be blessed with a heightened sense of God’s majesty this weekend. As you hurry to get things done, may you remember that He never hurries…but He always gets things done. And if you awaken in the night hours with worries or fretfulness, may you drift back to sleep quickly as you recall that He does not sleep or slumber. He is at work…so you can rest.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night. ~ Psalm 90:2,4

I wore this style in my slimmer late 30s. Lol. I had been questioning if I could wear them now that I’m 60 and a bit fuller. The

  3. Hello from Powder Springs! Thanks for today’s post. I purchased a pair of chino wide leg pants in red for summer. I haven’t worn them yet as I’ve struggled with what type of top. I have a cute nautical T-shirt from Loft today that I will tuck in. Thanks for the insight. Have a great weekend.

    1. Hi Suzy! I love the idea of red pants with a nautical shirt! You’ll look just smashing in that. So fun!
