White Linen Blazer for Date Night

Now that we’re empty nesters, James and I actually manage to enjoy dates a little more frequently. Often we choose to go out to lunch rather than dinner, but when we do go out at night I like to step up my look a little. Today I’d like to share with you exactly what I wore for our date night when James recently “swept me off to Tucson” for a Mother’s Day gift. I discovered that my white linen blazer is a surprisingly perfect choice for date night.

White Linen Blazer + Distressed Jeans

I don’t automatically think white linen when I think date night apparel. But for summertime…in Tucson, Arizona…at a hole in the wall family owned Italian restaurant…it’s the perfect chic finishing touch for this casual night out look.

White Linen Blazer + Distressed Jeans

We snapped these photos at the resort we were staying at just before heading out for some wonderful Italian food. Of course, I removed my white blazer before diving into my pasta! Ha!

I’m loving this classic, tailored white linen blazer so much. It’s lightweight and feels so good on. I’ve packed it for trips a couple of times now and I’ve had no problems with excessive wrinkles.

In the photo above I’ve cuffed the sleeves a little for a casual vibe. This jacket runs true to size.

I’ve never been one to wear distressed jeans a lot, but I think for this casual vibe these frayed straight leg jeans are a crucial part of the equation. I got mine when they were marked down less than $20, so they’re no longer available, but I’ve linked to similar jeans in the shopping widget and captions.

By the way, think you’re not “cool enough” to wear distressed denim? Think again. You will absolutely look “cooler” than you give yourself credit for! I guarantee it.

This sweet paisley blouse is a Dillard’s exclusive. I think the colors and the double ruffle flutter sleeve create a truly feminine and youthful look. And of course I’m always looking for pretty v-neck shirts.

As usual, I kept my jewelry pretty simple. I wore my gold bangle and my gold palm leaf necklace. But I did add a little color to coordinate with my blouse with these pink beaded sphere earrings (now only available in white) and this multicolored cuff bracelet. Oh, and I see I did wear my moon and star earrings, too. Fun!

Gold Sandals

I wouldn’t wear any other shoes with this outfit! These gold sandals, along with my gold wristlet handbag (similar), add just the right amount of dazzle to this otherwise very casual ensemble. Today you can get these sandals as much as 40% off (if you’re a classic awards member – and if not, join!!). Use code SUNSHINE.

Today, at Talbots you can get everything 30% off with code SUNSHINE and one item for 40% off if you’re a classic awards member. This would be a great time to snag up this white blazer! You also might want to take a look at a few of my favorites at Talbots right now. I’ve updated my list. Oh, and today I’m going to Talbots to try on new items, so I’ll probably have a Talbots Try-On Session on the blog tomorrow or Thursday. But the deals aren’t quite as good after today.

Let me know if you have any questions about the items in this post. Have a lovely day now!

Blessed for My Day

Today may you experience peace and unity in your most significant relationships. Unity is one of those sweet characteristics we tend to take for granted until discord takes its place. But like harmonizing notes on a keyboard, sometimes we just require a little space in order to keep the music between us sweet.

Do you need to step back a little from a dissonant relationship today in order to appreciate the other person for their unique qualities? Maybe you’ve been trying to control or contribute too much. Or maybe they just need some time to sort through some things on their own. Allow God to fill the space between you and the other person. Seek Him instead of them. And let Him continue the work He’s already begun in your heart as well as the other person’s.

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ Romans 15:5-6

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. This looks fantastic. One of your best look ever!!!! I am so going to copy this! Thank you for your beautiful words each day. What a blessing you are to me.

  2. I like the distressed jeans with that blazer. I am 63 and wear distressed jeans often. I do think they add some presence to an outfit and need to be looked at as more than a plain jean.

  3. Great outfit! Love that your distressed jeans are completely torn!! I need to find some similar to this!

    1. Yes, in the past I’ve just had those that were “worn looking” but not actually torn. I do feel pretty modern in these. Hahaha! ?

  4. You are twinning with us this week, Kay We are all wearing white jackets too!!
And I know what you mean about the distressed jeans. I think it gives you that rebel feeling, and we all need that once in a while.

  5. Wow! I think you “nailed it” with this outfit! It looks effortless, yet so put-together. It’s making me think twice about distressed jeans for myself. On a side note, every time my daughter wears distressed jeans around my dad, he teases her about them; I understand. And I think I;m getting a little “wild and edgy” lately with my raw-hem jeans–ha-ha! But what you did with this outfit placed the distressed jeans in a pleasing setting and it’s causing me to reconsider them for myself. Thanks for showcasing this ensemble!

    1. Great to hear, Rachel. I think maybe you hit on something there. Maybe the key for the more mature and chic woman is to use the distressed jeans in a more upscale look rather than pairing them with an old flannel shirt say.

  6. Like the look. Would definitely like it more with light-washed, non-distressed jeans. Just sayin’. Just me!

    1. That’s actually what I was looking for when I came across these, Diane. So I totally get that. I’d love that combo too. ?

  7. I love my white linen blazer! I tried the distressed jeans when a sales person brought them to my dressing room. I was surprised how much I liked them!

  8. Kay, I would never have thought to pair something so classic as the blouse/blazer combo with those jeans- but it looks so great! I agree with others that your accessories add another layer of fun and chic that is a subtle but perfect complement to the overall look!

  9. What a beautiful top! I do own a few pair of distressed jeans. The rips in the knees on one pair aggravated me so much that they are now in the donations pile. I prefer minimal distressing.
