Sensing a little déjà vu? Yes, this time last week I posted an outfit that incorporated an olive green utility jacket. Not only did you gals seem to really like that post, but I found another jacket that I like even more…and it’s on sale this weekend! Confession: I’ve never owned a utility jacket. So now that I’ve tried one on and experienced how it completes an ensemble, I just can’t stop! Still, I’ll try to lay off of them for a while after today. Maybe. We’ll see. *wink*

So yes, this utility jacket feels a-maz-ing on, and I think it looks sharp, too. It’s marked down 50% for the weekend, and right now they have a full range of sizes available. This is my investment jacket for the fall (although I did buy it when it was marked down a couple of weeks ago, too…but, sadly, not as much). I’m wearing a medium, as I often do in jackets and coats.

The Talbots Fall Style Event is here! Enjoy 25% off regular price styles and save big this season. 8/20-9/3

Under the jacket I’m wearing a v-neck pocket tee that I purchased at Target a while back. They’re still available in a full range of sizes. Honestly, I think these tees are pretty wonderful. They’re thick enough, but still soft and easy to wear. They’re a nice length, too. The tee is just $8, and if that’s not cheap enough for you, buy two for just $14. I also bought the red one.

My leopard print belt is another Target find. I think I’ll be wearing it a lot this fall and winter. In fact I think I’ll be wearing a lot of leopard print, period.

I purchased these high waist flared crop jeans during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and right now through the weekend (I imagine) they’re marked back down to the price I paid for them. And remember, with Nordstrom you always get free shipping and free return shipping. So these are a sweet deal right now. Oh, and last I checked they had a full range of sizes available. I’m wearing the 29.

I’m carrying my Fossil Fiona small crossbody/clutch in cognac. I can’t find it anymore in this shade, but I’ve linked to the purse in black. Also, in the shopping widget below I’ve given you several links to it in case you’d prefer to buy from one retailer over the others. My sweet daughter gave me this purse a couple of years ago, and I’ve gotten so much use out of it. And it will continue to be a favorite.

I bought these open toe sling back booties at Target last spring and I’ve worn them so much. I always get compliments on them. So I was surprised to see that Target has restocked them. They may be changed up a little, but I don’t think so. They’re also available in black. In fact, that’s what’s pictured in the shopping widget below. Looks like they have a full range of sizes available.

Can I just say it again? I am loving the look of a pretty olive green utility jacket with jeans and a t-shirt. You might want to contrast today’s look with last week’s. In last week’s post I went a little more casual with sneakers, but I love this slightly dressier approach today. All I did to elevate the look was add heels and the leopard print belt.

I’m also liking these cropped flared jeans more and more. I think they make my thick ankles look a little thinner. And the straight silhouette through the legs is trendy and youthful.

By the way, my jewelry is all from Fashion & Compassion. They no longer carry this exact set or pieces, but it’s definitely worth looking at what they do have. I loved buying quality, artsy jewelry from an organization that does so much good for women.

So I know some of you bought the utility jacket that I posted last week. It’s a great jacket. But if you’re still looking for one and would like a little more tailored, shorter jacket, this one might suit you. However, Lucky Brand also has this cinched utility jacket and this long parka that are worth a look-see.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post. Maybe you’d like to pin one of the photos to your fall Pinterest board or share the post on Facebook. That would be great. I’ve included affiliate links in the post today for your shopping convenience, and of course I make a small commission through them, too. Thanks for supporting what I do here by reading, commenting, sharing, pinning and shopping. You’re the bomb!

The shopping widget above has the clothing and accessories mentioned in the post, plus some great alternatives. But I’m also including another shopping widget below that has some of the great buys worth checking out during this weekend’s sales. So many things that I’ve shown you from Nordstrom, Ann Taylor and other places are marked down considerably for Labor Day. Some of the prices in the widget below do not reflect the significant discount the store is giving this weekend, so be sure to click on through if you’re interested.

I’ve linked today’s post with all the other great style bloggers at Jo-Lynne Shane’s Fashion Friday Link-Up. Be sure to check out their fashions, too.

Blessed for My Day

Do you know what it feels like to be on the outside looking in? I suppose we all do. In fact, I think more often than not we somehow feel like there is an in-crowd and we’re not in it. There’s even a new term for something similar to that feeling – FOMO – the Fear Of Missing Out. Indeed, with the time we spend on social media peeking into other people’s lives, it’s no wonder we begin to feel like everyone else is busier, happier, more fulfilled than we are. It’s a lie, you know. And that little lie will eat away at us until it drives us to do desperate things…or withdraw into misery.

Today may you be completely immune to FOMO as you reflect on the fact that you belong. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, you are no longer on the outside looking in. You’re in the house! Remember that today.

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. ~ Ephesians 2:19

  1. Really nice outfit! You look great! Love the shoes but unfortunately, I couldn’t wear them. I would probably wear a nice pair of loafers. Great color combination – pinning! Also, always love the Blessed for my Day. Thanks!

  2. Love this look! You might say that’s my uniform for Fall. I bought my first utility jacket last Spring from Old Navy, in burgundy, and I just love it!! Bought a pair of the high waist cropped jeans this year (Isaac Mizrahi) and already have several tee’s. I can’t wear real high heels anymore (had back surgery a year ago) so have to wear loafer’s or tennis shoes! Great job Kay! Love your blog. I’m also a Talbots girl from WAY back. Have a blessed day!

  3. Love your outfit. Do the sleeves run long on the jacket? Sleeves are always long on me in regular sizes. Also, I missed your live yesterday. Can I view it somewhere? Or did you cancel? I know you said you weren’t feeling well earlier this week. Hope you are well.

    1. Hi Pam. I think the sleeves are about average, but they also can be worn cuffed. In fact, I may have them cuffed in the post. Yes, I am. They have really cool zipper sleeves and I forgot to show that in the post. So then you just unzip them and cuff them.

Yes, you can still see the FB Live. It’s on My Dressed for My Day Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/kaysstyleblog/videos/1915859765137727/Thanks for asking. I’m feeling much better. Have a great weekend! ?

  4. I love this outfit! I’ve had a tan utility jacket in my closet for the past few years and never really knew how to style it. Well you’ve just solve my problem and I now know what I’m going to be wearing this fall. I also recently bought the Target t-shirts and am loving them as well.

    1. Thanks Jena. ? And congratulations on being randomly chosen from all my wonderful subscribers as the August subscriber of the month! Yay! I’ll be emailing you your gift card. ?
