Transition into Fall with Chambray and Khaki

Hi gals! Happy Friday and welcome to the weekend. Today I’m sharing with you another transition-into-fall look. I guess transitioning with chambray and khaki is sort of a no-brainer. But I do think there are some tricks to using these two wardrobe essentials to create chic, current and flattering fashion statements.

Transition into Fall with Chambray & Khaki

Style Tip #1 – Choose khaki pants in a current, fresh style. These fitted cargo pants are a more modern option than your basic chinos. But if you do choose chinos, go with fitted or girlfriend chinos, either of which are still trending.

My Wit & Wisdom khaki cargo pants are still available in limited sizes. I’m wearing an 8, so they fit true to size. I’ve cuffed them a couple of times for a fun, youthful look.

Style Tip #2 – Select a chambray shirt with a little more interest or detailing than your basic button up. But if this is a shirt you hope to use as a closet staple, steer clear of trendy or fussy details.

My tie front chambray shirt is the perfect weight and texture, made of soft, 100% Tencel. Unfortunately it’s no longer available. But this longer sleeved version from Loft is even cuter and currently 40% off with code FUNFUNFUN.

Style Tip #3 – Add some fun shoes! When you’re wearing any two basic wardrobe essentials – whether it’s chambray and khaki or a white tee and jeans – be sure to add some interest with cute footwear.

I purchased my leopard print flats in last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but this year everyone’s talking about these in snake print, these in tiger print and these in camo. For a more casual vibe check out all the patterns and colors these Toms comes in.

Style Tip #4 – Accessorize. When wearing basic wardrobe essentials like chambray and khaki it’s important to add a little bling. You can go big, like I did with the chambray and white outfit in this post, or keep your jewelry more classic like I did here. But definitely add some jewelry.

I’m wearing my double bar pendant necklace I picked up in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. To add even more shine to this basic look, I added my brushed gold large tear drop earrings and a tortoise shell bangle.

This is the kind of outfit I like to wear shopping (because the shirt is easy-on/easy-off), working from home or even on a day outing. And if the temperatures cooled, I’d just add or carry along my denim jacket.

Blessed for My Day

Some people hold the pastor and his wife to a higher standard and expect mode behavior from them. But the truth is the Bible teaches us that God holds all of His followers to a higher standard. It’s called kingdom living! And Jesus explained the code of conduct we are called to in detail in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7.

Part of that high calling is the command to bless rather than curse those who have hurt or wronged us. That is oh so hard. But when we deliberately choose to respond to hurt and mistreatment with a blessing we are in turn blessed. That doesn’t mean we have to put ourselves in harm’s way, mind you. It simply means that we leave justice to God and conduct ourselves with grace. How are you doing with that?

Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. ~ 1 Peter 3:9

  1. Cute outfit Kay! Coming from Arizona, I love the green all around you ? I am going to buy those earrings for mr sister in law’s birthday. Have a blessed weekend!

  2. Another really nice outfit on you Kay! I’m so glad you enjoyed the dinner last night. The small group ladies dinners is a great idea. W&W pants are my go-to brand now. I’d love to get a pair of casual camo shoes since I am a hunter, but finding some that are narrow enough for my feet is a challenge. Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. I’m not sure why but I would never have considered wearing my leopard print shoes with khaki pants. Thanks for the inspiration, Kay!
