Skinny Jeans Topped with Bright Pink

This evening we’re heading out to watch a little friend play T-ball. While I’ve been wearing shorts all day I’ll change into jeans before heading to the ball fields. It’s just that time of year when we still need to keep our jeans handy. And that’s why I feel good about sharing with you this flirty cap-sleeved pink top with my favorite skinny jeans. This fun outfit is just the ticket for these last weeks of spring.

Skinny jeans paired with a flirty pink top

Honestly, these are the first pair of skinny jeans that I’ve owned that I’ve also just really loved. These are from Ann Taylor. They are the Modern All Day Skinny Jeans in mariner. They call them all day jeans because they’re constructed with LYCRA® Beauty fabric, which is fabric built with proprietary technology that beautifully blends shaping ability with comfort. The result? According to the LYCRA® website, the wearer of these jeans “feels only 20 grams of pressure on her body versus a pair of traditional stretch jeans which exert about 260 grams of pressure.” Where there ya go! That’s why these are my new favorite jeans. They truly feel good on. And aren’t jeans supposed to be our most comfortable pants?

Skinny Jeans with a pop of pink on top

I love pink paired with blue denim. My fuchsia pink cap sleeve top is the Pleione Chloe Pleat Back Blouse and it’s still available at Nordstrom Rack where I purchased it a couple of months ago now. In fact, it comes in a variety of great shades and some beautiful prints. And at less than $30, you might want to get a couple of them. I especially like the black botanical and ivory botanical prints.

By the way, my jewelry consists of a bracelet that once belonged to my Memaw (it’s probably 70 years old or so), my twirl French wire earrings from Brighton and a necklace purchased long ago from Premier Jewelry.

Skinny jeans with the Pleione Chloe Pleat Back Blouse

As you can see, the Chloe is a pretty long polyester blouse and might even look great with leggings, which I know some of you enjoy wearing. And this blouse doesn’t just make a grand entrance; it catches the eye as you walk away, too! The permanently pressed in pleats keep things interesting from the rear view. I just did a simple little front tuck so that the back pleats could fall nicely all the way down my back.

To accomplish a front tuck, I usually just tuck a good sized portion of the front of my blouse into my pants the way I would if I were tucking in the whole thing. I get it in and smooth everything into place. Then I begin untucking on the edges first and pull out as much as I want, developing a casual tuck that I’m happy with. And yes, sometimes I put it all in and do it all over again until I get it how I want it. You can tuck right in the center or a little to either side. There really are no rules. Just make it look casual and effortless. Although it may take a lot of effort in reality!

Skinny Jeans with Peep Toe block heels

You can certainly wear skinny jeans like these with flats or low-heeled sandals, but I love wearing chunky heels with mine for a more sophisticated look. These are my Universal Thread peep toe sandals that I got at Target earlier this spring. They still show on the website, but they’re marked as out of stock. I found these Michelle Cork Mules in cognac that would be a nice low-price option, as well as these Aspen Pumps in chestnut (with a little lower heel).

But if you’re interested in a pair of these peep toe sandals (which seem to be enjoying a lengthy stay in the fashion scene), you also might like to look at these Born Sutra Perf Sandals (love!) or these Indigo Rd. Pedana Peep Toe Booties (great price in a few sizes). Of course, I really love these Vince Camutos, but they’re available in a very limited number of sizes.

Skinny Jeans with LYCRA Beauty Technology

By the way, my jeans are a 6, which is true to size for me for jeans. In other pants I generally wear an 8. I hope that helps a little with ordering your correct size.

I know jeans may seem like a hot choice as the days warm up, but these jeans feel so good on that I really believe I’ll be wearing them all summer long. The LYCRA® Beauty fabric makes such a difference in how they look and how they feel on your body. The promotion at Ann Taylor says they look as good at 9 p.m. as they did at 9 a.m. and I’d agree. And they also feel good at 9 p.m. And that’s what I want my jeans to do…feel good.

Do you wear jeans through the summer? Are there particular styles you prefer to wear in the hotter months? I’d love to know. Oh, and you also might like to check out another pair of jeans I’ve been enjoying.

I’ve linked up this post with some other great fashion bloggers at Jo-Lynne Shane’s Fashion Friday Linkup. Be sure to check out more beautiful styles there.

Blessed for My Day

Today let’s choose to represent God well. Not by appearing wise or noble. Not by doing everything just right. Not by quoting scripture or carrying our Bibles everywhere we go. But by loving others as God has loved us – graciously, patiently, fervently and compassionately.

No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. ~ 1 John 4:12

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. I live in the NW, so I do wear jeans in the summer. With my skinny jeans, I am able to just cuff them up in the hottest weather and let them down if it gets cool. They do double duty that way!

  2. What is your take on purses? You don’t usually carry one in your blog photos if I am remembering correctly.

    1. Ha! Yeah, I tend to forget to pose with one. I probably remember about half the time. I love Fossil bags, from crossbodies to satchels, they tend to be my go-to. But I also buy a trendy purse every season. I love to carry a straw bag in the summer. You’ll see it https://dressedformyday.com/double-frayed-skinny-ankle-jeans/ and https://dressedformyday.com/seersucker-shorts-tank-cardigan/ . With this outfit I think I wore this Fossil satchel as seen here: https://dressedformyday.com/draped-cardigan/ Funny, that’s the bag I carry most often now and I haven’t remembered to post it since that first post I believe. I’ll have to pull it out for my fashion shoot tonight. I also really love the little round bag I featured here from Target: https://dressedformyday.com/update-spring-wardrobe-five-trend-target/ But then I gave that purse to my daughter.

Thanks for pointing this out to me, Patty. I need to start styling handbags more often! 🙂
