Welcome to Dressed for My Day! While we’ve recently experienced a few very cool days here in southern Arizona, my sights are pretty much set on summer dressing at this point. What about you? So I think this is a great day to share this classic seersucker fit & flare dress. You can’t get much more summery than this dress!

Let’s just start with the fact that photos don’t really do this lightweight seersucker fit and flare dress justice. Or maybe I was just tired from shooting photos and I wasn’t standing up very straight. But the dress really does fit true to size. Keep in mind, I’m not well endowed up top. So when I slump a little I lose any semblance of shapeliness. Ha!

Seersucker Fit & Flare Dress

Talbots nailed it with this dress in my estimation. It’s fully lined with a soft cotton, features an invisible back zipper, has a flattering v-neck and is constructed from a nice quality seersucker in traditional blue and white. Oh, and your bra straps will stay discreetly hidden thanks to snaps inside the shoulder straps of the dress. Hooray for the little things!

This simple dress looks great with heels or flat sandals. These ankle strap sandals have a 3″ heel and are proving to be rather comfortable. They fit true to size.

I’m so bummed that I cannot find this hat anywhere online to link to it. I bought it at Dillard’s so you might check your brick & mortar Dillard’s if you have one, but they don’t have this wide brim hat online. My bet is that it’s left over from last year, so I found this sweet hat to link to instead.

This week you can get one full price item at Talbots for 40% off, plus you’ll get their already reduced priced merchandise for an additional 40% off. So this is a great time to shop for dresses like this seersucker fit and flare dress. I’ve included several other pretty ones in the shopping widget below.

And if you’re interested in shopping Talbots’ special offers, be sure to check out my Shop My Talbots Favorites page, too. I’ve updated it with new items.

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale

Nordstrom’s Half Yearly Sale begins today, and they have some great markdowns. This is a clearance sale, but there are plenty of cross seasonal finds and wardrobe essentials included in the sale so far. Be sure to check out my Shop My Nordstrom Favorites page for my picks. Some of these have been marked down, and the sale price should show in my shopping widget.

Blessed for My Day

Have you seen the pretty little plates that are meant to be passed from person to person, home to home, filled with baked goods or other homemade gifts? They’re meant to be used to share a little love and keep passing it on.

But I always hesitate to buy these plates because, honestly, I don’t want to pass the plate on. I don’t mind filling it with cookies or other goodies and giving it to someone, but I fear that it would stop there. So I never give one. Plus, the plates are often pretty and even quite expensive, so I don’t really want to give it away.

But if someone gave me such a plate filled with cookies, I’d have absolutely no trouble filling it up again and passing it on to someone else. Why the change of heart? Well, if it’s a gift it’s easier for me to “gift it” to someone else. But if I spend my hard earned money on the plate, I feel a little stingier with it. Make sense? Maybe it’s just me.

I think grace works the same way. If I mistakenly feel like I have earned God’s love and favor and forgiveness…it’s harder for me to give those things to others. I had to earn it, so they should, too. But if I realize that, in fact, God graciously gave me love, favor and forgiveness, then I will graciously pass those very things on to others.

The truth is, we’ve earned nothing from God. Everything we have from Him – love, forgiveness, favor, provision, hope, joy – He gave to us freely and graciously. Today let’s pass it on.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ~ Matthew 5:3

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

    1. Hahaha! Thanks. ? I guess I didn’t really think about how southern this dress looks. But my roots are definitely showing!!

  1. Wow, that description of Grace given to others…unfortunately I relate to being stingy. I love the dress too 🙂

    1. Yes, me too, Kara. I tend to like to think I’m generous. But I know better. It’s a struggle. Thanks for reading. ?
