Fitting Room Try-On Session Chicos (1)

Hello everyone, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. Today instead of a regular fashion post I thought I’d share with you a fitting room try-on session from Chico’s. Last Thursday I went into Tucson with James to help him pick out the frames for his new eye glasses, so I made some returns and then headed over to Chico’s to try on some of their new transition pieces. These are separates that feature fall-ish colors but still are cool enough to wear beginning now.

Here in Arizona you could actually wear transitional pieces like these for as many months as you wear true cool weather clothes. So they’re not a frivolous investment at all. Styles like these could actually see you through the winter! Let’s check out what I tried on.

By the way, you probably know that Chico’s has unique sizing. Their 000 = US 0 or x-small, 00 = US 2 or xs, 0 = US 4 or small, .5 = US 6 or small, 1 = US 8 or medium, 1.5 = US 10 or medium, 2 = US 12 or large, 2.5 = US 14 or large, 3 = US 16 or x-large, 3.5 = US 18 or x-large, 4 = US 20 or xx-large, 4.5 = US 22 or xx-large. Chico’s has petite sizes as well, which are scaled similarly. For perspective, I am 5’8″ and weigh right at 148, and I wear .5s when available and 0s otherwise. Occasionally I require a 1.

Brigitte Medallion Ankle Pants

I have really enjoyed the Brigitte ankle pants I bought for the summer, so I decided to try on a couple of the new editions. I love the colors in these medallion ankle pants. I’d say the colors are dark and light turquoise, beige and rust, but I don’t know what Chico’s would call them.

They feature pull-on styling with a wide waist band, and the fabric is thick and sturdy, but giving and comfortable. I’m wearing the .5 size.

In the above photo I have on the woven detail top in a size 0. The color is rich paprika and it works really well with the medallion pants. The top also comes in a pretty teal, dark purple and midnight blue. The top i very comfortable and hangs nicely over the pants.

Next I slipped on this embroidered sleeve shirt. It only comes in this ecru, which is a little sheer. I think it might be best to wear a camisole under it, as I don’t like it when my pants peek through like this. I’m wearing a 0. The top is very pretty with nice detailing, and it seems to be of good quality.

In the above photo you get a bit of a back view of the pants, but I didn’t take a shot without the top over my rump. Sorry. Just couldn’t bring myself to do it! Plus, I can tell you that they fit nicely in the seat, but I wouldn’t wear a top that exposed that area anyhow.

Finally, I tried the medallion pants with this silky soft shirt in bella pink. It’s a polyester blend and feels, well, silky soft. I think this top is a great piece for these pants, but also to wear with jeans or dress trousers like the ones I featured in Friday’s work wear post. This top also comes in teal and ecru, both of which would look nice with these medallion pants.

Brigitte Cool Medallion Pants in Teal

Next I tried these Brigitte Cool Medallion Pants in teal. They’re the same as the above pants, but just a different pattern and color. Again, I’m wearing the .5 size.

I’m wearing an ecru embroidered top that I thought was part of the new collection, but I can’t find it anywhere in the online catalog. It could be a store exclusive, but you may find it online, too. Let me know if you do. Meanwhile, I think this beaded v-neck top might be an even better choice for this boho look anyhow. I’m wearing a 0, and I’m sure that’s what I’d take in the beaded top as well.

I know that a nice white button up shirt like this is always a good investment, but I’m not completely sold on this cotton blend pocket tunic. I just don’t like for my pants to peek through the fabric of a shirt like this. So I’d have to wear a camisole underneath, and I just wouldn’t want to. But if that doesn’t bother you, then this top might be a good choice. I do like that it features hidden front pockets. And it is a nice no-iron fabric and feels good on. I’m wearing a .5 The tunic also comes in the rich paprika and midnight blue.

Paisley Shift Dress

I only had time for one more item, and I decided on this paisley shift dress, which I love. It features kimono style 3/4 length sleeves and a keyhole neck opening. The dress is made of a nice polyester blend that is thick enough to wear without a slip, but I would probably wear the appropriate shape wear underneath.

I’m wearing size 0. The dress consists of the same colors as the medallion print pants above, the paprika, pink, teal and ecru found in most of this line of clothing.

Well, that’s all I had time for that day, but I’ve included some other pieces that I would have liked to try on in the shopping widget below. I especially like button-hem girlfriend jeans (not featured in the widget) which come in several pretty colors, the silky soft leopard print shirt and the denim shirt, which comes in a darker wash than is shown in the widget.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post and that maybe it helped you to see some of Chico’s new line in a better light. Actually, I apologize for the quality of the photographs. Some stores have great lighting in their dressing rooms; Chico’s does not.

Let me know if you have any questions about my try-on session or the other pieces you see in their new line. Maybe I can help you out or point you in the right direction. Thanks so much for reading today. Of course, I’ve used affiliate links so that you can shop these items easily. That means I make a little commission when you shop, but at no cost to you. Thanks so much for supporting what I do here by shopping, sharing and subscribing.

Blessed for My Day

I’m normally a major procrastinator. In fact, that’s why this post is going up later today than normal. But I’m trying to turn over a new leaf. In yesterday’s sermon, my husband showed us in Acts 24 why procrastinating can be a serious mistake. If we’re putting off following the convictions and instructions of the Holy Spirit, that’s nothing to shrug our shoulders at. In fact, if we do so long enough He may leave us to our own devices and we may miss out on serious blessings…or worse. What are you putting off that you need to take care of today? If it’s a directive given by the Holy Spirit or found in God’s Word, I encourage you to delay no longer. The solution? Simply take the next step.

And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, “Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you.” ~ Acts 24:25

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. Pretty selections from Chicos!

My husband and I watched the The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society Saturday night and we agree with you. Excellent movie! I heard about it from another blogger: Layla Palmer of The Lettered Cottage. Check out her blog. Sweet family.

    1. Yes, I love Chico’s jewelry, too. I probably should have grabbed some to take into the fitting room with me. I usually do that. I guess I was just in a hurry that day. 🙂
