Fall Cardigan and Jeans Preview

Hi gals! Are you as hot as I am? We are definitely in the middle of summer. Even though monsoon rains have begun here in southern Arizona, we’re still in pretty high temps. Well grab something cool to drink while you read this post. I know it’s too hot outside to imagine wearing this cardigan and jeans, but I think it’s time to start thinking in that direction. Especially as the Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale nears its end date (Sunday, August 5th is the final day for sale prices).

While many #NSale items, including this cardigan unfortunately, are no longer available. There are still some great fall finds to be had at very reasonable prices. So if you can keep your cool long enough to peruse through the sale pages a little, now is a great time to at least consider buying that one go-to fall outfit.

Fall Cardigan and Jeans

That’s kind of what I’d consider this cardigan and jeans outfit – a go-to fall style. Really, can you get more basic than a cardigan and jeans? But can you get any more comfortable, chic or youthful either?

Fall Cardigan and Jeans

Like I said, this wonderful berry colored cardigan is sold out. I love the soft nubby texture and the pockets on this sweater. It’s also a beautiful, rich plum that could be paired easily with black, brown, navy or gray pants. But while it’s out of stock, I did find several other boxy sweaters in the Nordstrom sale that you might be interested in.

This Leith Boxy cardigan is especially pretty in the pink adobe, and it’s probably the closest in price (the sweater I have on was just $35.90!). This boxy cardigan by Free People comes in a pretty wine, as well as black and ivory, and is available in more sizes. And this boxy cardigan by Barefoot Dreams is amazingly soft. It’s a little pricier, but it is available in the full range of sizes in several beautiful colors. I’ve included a couple of other ones in the shopping widget below as well.

My jeans are Treasure & Bond high waist flared crop jeans, and they are still available in a lot of sizes, but not all of them. I love these jeans. I probably won’t be keeping them because I’m afraid I need to go up one size. I’m wearing the 29 and, as much as I hate to admit it, I think I need the 30. I’m not very used to European sizes, and of course every brand runs differently. But in most jeans I wear a 6 or 8, and yet the equivalent of this 29 is supposed to be a 10. And they’re a tad small just at the waist band. So go figure!

The moral of the story is probably size up on these. And I would swallow my pride and order the 30 (I like them that much!) but they’re no longer available. We’ll see. With Nordstrom’s generous return policy, I have time to see if I can lose a couple of vacation pounds so that they fit more comfortably.

I think it’s always a good idea to have a couple of nice white tees on hand. They look good under most any jacket or cardigan, and with the addition of a colorful necklace or scarf, you can elevate the look effortlessly. I also think pairing a simple t-shirt with your cardigan or jacket is a more youthful approach to dressing, so it takes a few years off. Yes, please.

This white rounded v-neck tee is picked over in sizes as well. It’s still available, but not in a full range of sizes. But you might want to check it out and see what they have in stock in your size. It comes in several great stripes and other shades as well. And it’s not as thin as I thought it might be. This is definitely a keeper.

Don’t you just love to add a splash of leopard print to your outfit? I do. Whether it’s in a belt, scarf or handbag, a splash of animal print adds oomph to an otherwise ordinary ensemble. That’s why I love these leopard print mules by Halogen. And yes, they stay on your feet. That’s a question I always had about mules before I tried them. And I have tried on some that felt like they definitely would slip as you walked. But these stay on nicely. These mules are also picked over, leaving few sizes to choose from. But you might find your size in this dressier leopard print flat (I purchased these, too, and they feel WONDERFUL on. I’m not sure yet which ones I’m keeping.), this leopard print mule with bow or this leopard mule by Cole Haan.

I’m carrying my Fossil Fiona Satchel in brown. It’s a classic and pairs so nicely with many of my outfits, especially in the fall when this particular shade is most suitable. It’s an investment piece for me (I gave mine to myself for Christmas last year), but I’ve enjoyed carrying it year round.

Fall Cardigan and Jeans

Neither my necklace nor my earrings are available anymore, but you can easily duplicate the look. I love wearing long layered necklaces like this, especially when they also feature some pretty colors. I’ve included a few in the shopping widget below from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. And my earrings are simple small gold hoops like these at Nordstrom Rack. Since my necklace is so noticeable, I wanted to go with a simple earring.

Well, ladies, are you burning up after looking at these photos and reading about sweaters? Ha! I was burning up after taking these photos, for sure! But I love that I was able to find some really great pieces in the Nordstrom sale for this fall, and I wanted to show them to you while you could still jump in and find some for yourself. I’ll be honest, I over-ordered intentionally. For instance, I have the size 28 in these jeans, too. Ha! And the 29’s are snug. Oh well. Someone will be happy when I return them. I’m looking forward to sharing a few other outfits I’ve put together from the sale purchases. And most of them are very similar to this go-to fall outfit.

Blessed for My Day

Dear reader, today I pray for you to be keenly aware of the truth of God’s Word. I ask the Lord to use it like a lamp to your feet and a light for your path. I pray that as you are faced with choices and decisions today, you will consistently choose to honor the teaching of God’s Word, deciding that even if it feels contrary to conventional wisdom or your gut feelings you will be obedient to His commands. May you be blessed by the reading of His Word. And may you choose to hide His Word in your heart through biblical meditation and scripture memorization. And may that embedded Word bring forth fruit in your life in the days to come.

Finally, let me encourage you to make studying God’s Word a priority in your life. If you’ve never studied the Bible before…or it’s been a while…now might be a good time to find a women’s Bible study in your community to join. A lot of churches are enrolling for women’s Bible studies at this time of year. It’s a great time to jump in, meet some other Jesus-following women and begin studying His Word more diligently. Bless you, sweet sister.

I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life. ~ Psalm 119:93

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay
