I understand your concerns and prefer to not purchase from China either in a perfect world. Alas, as one other reader commented, until we start manufacturing more in the US, we're kinda stuck. For me, the better goal is simply to buy American whenever possible, and I do. It costs more, for sure. But I definitely make a point of buying American when I can. Still, I also try to remember that the Chinese government is one thing and the people who live and try to earn a living there are quite another. I try to purchase items from responsibly sourced manufacturers and those that pay fair wages. I can't be perfect at this because I don't always have all the information. But I do my best.

Hi Kay
Can you recommend a clothes steamer? I’m interested in trying one and wouldn’t mind receiving one for Christmas this year. Thanks for this nice selection of gifts.

Thanks for the gift ideas. For the reader who doesn't like items from China. I don't either but it's hard to find items that aren't. I wouldn't buy hardly anything if I followed that rule. Until Americans start manufacturing clothes and shoes again we're stuck.
